| Starks 05/01/20 12:44:56 AM #1 | This whole embezzlement scandal unfolded at the end of my junior year. We didn't fully understand it beyond the whispers. The seniors at the time said "this is our story". No it wasn't. Their classmate broke the story, but they already had acceptance letters from colleges. Us juniors just finished our first round of SATs and our senior year was about to be robbed from us. We came back in September to a new board, new superintendent, new principal, etc. We had no idea how handle ourselves other than persevere through what amounted to a regency running our schools. #4? Not anymore. We never recovered. Try top 500 now. At the end of it all, the state came in and arrested nearly everyone. From the ashes, the district tried to rebuild. My father, a CPA, was a part of that parent-driven effort. Jackman's portrayal of Tassone is spot on. I had met Tassone once or twice. The "who is this sharply-dressed mob boss" vibes were real but you'd never suspect a thing. It's the north shore of Long Island. People live large. The helicopter parenting and sense of privilege? All real. But that damn skywalk. The high school needed it. It was not physically possible to go from one end of the school to another between classes without being late. It still wasn't with the skywalk, but you'd save yourselves a dozen flights of stairs. Everything was now connected. Worth 8 million though? Maybe. But it really signified the divide between all the leaky roofs and these big-dollar capital projects. --- Wash your hands |

Too much car considering I had to commute in the damn thing on unfamiliar roads. And believe me, the "I get it" moments were numerous. The roar of the engine and all the acceleration were great.
