The usual M.O. for Rumble is:

1. Go with the guy they are pushing the hardest/safest bet (Austins, Cenas, Rollins, etc.)
2. Go with the guy they WANT to push the hardest, but isn't the biggest name yet (ADR, Sheamus, Reigns in 15 kinda hit #1 and #2)
3. Begrudgingly, go with what the fans want and fuck over the winner later to the person they actually care about (Asuka, Nakamura)

Reigns is the safest bet this year, and doesn't have the "ANYONE BUT ROMAN" stigma they used to put HHH, Rollins, and Nakamura over this time. I can't think of a time Rumble was used as a shock win for a nobody. ADR and Sheamus are probably the closest, but you know the WWE wanted them from day 1.

The issue WWE has is Reigns can still win the Rumble no problem. But Lesnar HAS to be eliminated, and hopefully by a current roster member (Owens, Joe, McIntyre being the likeliest). Giving that slam dunk rub to Velasquez just shows how stupid Vince really is. It's like, it's probably Heyman's idea, and Vince did a Corrupt a Wish with it or something.

But you can bet TNT and Fox commentators don't want to rep wrestling at all either. You don't out yourself as a wrestling fan in public...usually. That's the problem. Wrestling just has this "insane cringe" factor associated to it.

Normal sports don't have that stigma. It's probably worse to say you watch wrestling than anime or gaming...

And yes, Velvet's OG attire is ridiculous, but can be switched out almost immediately.

The game's main charm is reveling in the evilness of it all. Like a murderhobo D&D campaign. It shouldn't normally work, but it does.

This frees up $60 to spend on P5R instead. It also allows me to put FF7R on the Gamefly docket for a later date, and gauge fan response first.

I KNOW SMT/Persona is good all the time (5 is magical by the way). I can't say that about Square like I used to.

I think the main question with these situations are: is the female talent over enough to justify it, can they bookers craft scenarios where it SEEMS feasible, and does the female talent pass the eye test enough that suspension of disbelief isn't so absurd that people are willing to buy it.

It sounds like Impact has done enough with the first two to make it make sense. Having never seen Tessa, I don't know what physique wise what she offers. She's obviously not Awesome Kong's size, otherwise that'd be a no brainer. Beth Phoenix, Cheerleader Melissa/Mariposa size and poise? I can make it make sense (especially in today's wrestling climate where wrestlers do skew smaller). Anything other than that, then you've have to contrive "always in hardcore/street fight/deathmatches to even get me on this.

The reason I hate the Sexy Star thing is it was a battle royal screwball finish, over the biggest, darkest motherfucker LU had at that point. Then, instead of having a reign, she just dumped it off to Mundo the next week. It sounds to me like Impact have been building Tessa up for a year or more, so I would hope if they do pull the trigger, they commit as, "We built her as our focal point, deal with it." Then I'll give them props for having the balls. Female world champions aren't impossible...just hard to make work.

I'm not trying to make this a "only women THIS BIG should be able to ride the men's only ride," but you see why I'm trying to skirt around it a little.

Sami went to LU, so I know of him a little bit. Never interested me. I'm not sure how I'd feel about Tessa being world champion. She's over in Impact, but this might be another of those Sexy Star beats Mil fucking Muertes disasters if they follow through.

Depends on how they book it. I heard she beat Cage (um...the fuck), so that alone has me wondering if it is smoke and mirrors bullshit. Callihan isn't big, just a short stocky nutcase. I can buy that a bit more.
