I don't care about football and never watched the Superbowl, but I will this year just to see Mahomes' magic tricks. A guy that can look one direction and throw an amazing pass a different direction with his off hand is worth watching.

Yes, it's my civic duty.

That has no real impact on whether you get called in for jury duty, since you'd still be eligible for the pool through other means.

Like Zeus said, you're on record for jury duty with drivers license, car registration, personal property tax, real estate, probably other things.

Yes, but I'm pretty much a buzzkill, I can almost guarantee that what I vote for will fail. I couldn't in conscience vote for either of the idiot candidates in the last Presidential election so wasted my vote for an independent. I did have some success in the last local election, my vote for mayor lost, but my vote against changing a traditional street name succeeded.

TopicIs buying a new car neccessary to a normal life?
dancer62

Why buy a car less than 20 years old? Pay cash for a $1500 car, spend another $1000 to catch up on maintenance and make it reliable, drive it for 10 years, scrap it when it's used up, buy another. Or spend 20-40k, make payments, have it lose 20% of its value as soon a you drive it from the dealer, half its value in the first 3 years.

SpeedDemon20 posted...
Anywho, I know how you feel, TC, my previous car was old enough to drink. The paint was fading really badly and it didn't have any of the fancy features new cars have, but it drove fine. Everyone at work would always ask if I planned on getting a new one as if it were an interesting talking point. It's super annoying. A couple of women I went out with hated it too. I don't even understand the fascination with cars. The most time I spend in it is during traffic, and that's miserable. A new car doesn't improve the situation in any way.
Buy a classic sports car, a little more maintemance, but a 20-40 year old sports car outclasses a new car, for less than $5000. Add a cheap sedan or pickup as an everyday knockaround grocery-getter for bad weather and stuff that won't fit in the sports car. Advantage to gamers: you can drive a digital version of your classic car in Forza, Gran Turismo, etc.

Just get a .22. Don't let toxic masculinity get in the way, it's the ideal gun. Causes enough damage to stop anyone, but won't kill them.
Actually, it won't stop them and it will make them angry. It will, however, kill them, it just generally takes longer. Like a Civil War minie ball, the dirty little wax-coated bullet carries all kind of debris into the wound, ensuring a serious and often fatal infection.

Buying a gun because you want a gun, plan to learn gun safety and shooting skills, intend to spend time on the firing range burning through ammunition, maybe doing your own reloading, is great. Buying one for magical "self-defense" as seen on TV is about as smart as wearing a tinfoil hat to protect yourself from alien mind control.

Sure! 73 years old, stay active with golf, teaching in university extension, and working on sports cars. Healthy diet of pizza and craft beer alternating with lots of red meat with potatoes and gravy. No medication, not even aspirin, alcohol in moderation, plenty of black coffee.

Only 27 more years to my first 100!

3 times a day, usually. It only seems like more. They usually don't leave a message, maybe twice a month, wanting to give me a gift card, suspending my Social Security number for illegal activity, wanting me to repay a (paid back 30 years ago) student loan.

I understand that actually answering is a red flag to the scammer community, (Wow! A working number!) but not answering doesn't seem to slow them down much.

Dont say things like convincing a female to mate with me.
Because the question actually is: "How do I convince a woman that I am such a charming fellow that she wants to devote her life to partnership with me and to spending the next 19 years gestating and then civilizing my drooling squealing house ape?"

Depends if it's a coat or a jacket.
This.

I generally wear jackets, but have a couple of decent coats. My parkas fall somewhere between. But I'm willing to hang my jackets with coathangers or on a coat rack. I rarely check them in a cloakroom. And my heavy leather jacket serves often as my winter coat. And when I say, "I'll be with you in a minute, let me get my coat", it's most often a jacket.
