It doesn't seem to matter if I'm doing good or bad, I seem to have developed a real habit of finishing in the same position multiple times in a row. I just got 4th a third straight time and got +28 this time, which seems more in line with what I was expecting.

Because if 4th and 5th are eliminated at the same time it will generally be around +0 for both.

I think the Soul Fragment gimmick is pretty fun outside of the one 5/5 that feels too strong.

Polkelt looks to me like that one card they have in every set that you initially see and think, holy shit, that's going to be involved in an absolutely broken combo... and then it's either too slow or existing combo decks are just better so you end up seeing it once a month.

Speaking of Hearthstone arena, I forgot I had active runs on EU/Asia still so I've been playing through them today. Needed a short break from battlegrounds because I lost most of my progress over the last couple of days with a set of 8/6/8 finishes.

Demon Hunter is apparently trash in arena? But I just had a game against a Priest where I had 1 life to their 30, and two turns later I killed him and was at 30 life. I imagine that's going to be the highlight of the run because this draft looks pretty poor.

Fun battlegrounds fact I wasn't aware of: If you have a full menagerie build with a Lightfang Enforcer in play and put down an Amalgadon as your final minion, it gets a sixth buff for the banned minion type so your entire board gets the stats.

Edit: The downside to this is you end up with eight buff cards in your hand you can't play, including a golden one because you bought the third copy before you could even play the first two. I had to wait until I was lucky enough to get a second Lightfang so I could sell the first and play all the buffs at once.

But another first place, back to 6,400 after that tailspin I had.

Back to back firsts, battlegrounds luck is starting to turn around. I even had a semi-perfect game, won every round and the only damage I took was from a random Homunculus I bought in the middle of the game to buff my golden Crowd Favorite.

I got a 1st today, glad to finally get a win again. Had 40 health left in the final two with a Kalecgos/Nadina build, facing off against giant, shielded murlocs with plants. Guy beat me five or six rounds in a row before I finally got too big for him, and thankfully he never managed to get another Megasaur or I was toast.

Also, did they screw up when they added pirates into the pool with the other minion types? I legit can't remember the last time I had a lobby where pirates weren't the banned type.

If Wizards was selling booster boxes with 30 packs in them most of the time, then one expansion sold boxes with 36 for the same price before going back to 30 again in future expansions, I can't say that would be something I'd have a hard time imagining.

To be fair, my experience with Magic is from a time where every single set seemed to have a different amount of not only packs in booster boxes, but number of cards in each pack as well.

Isn't Descent the outlier? I seem to remember these deals always being 55 or 50 packs, but I never buy packs with money so I could be remembering incorrectly.

Almost won a game of battlegrounds to break the drought, but the eventual winner hit the super nuts. Golden Whelp, Bronze Warden, Bronze Warden, Drakonid Enforcer, Kalecgos, Nadina. I know that doesn't sound like anything out of the ordinary when it comes to good dragon builds, but this guy was still on tavern tier 3. Unless I'm forgetting some other way to do this, he got some ridiculous Shifter luck.

On the bright side, I think I'm now high enough where even an 8th place finish in my next game won't send me into the 5,000s.

You lose 2 or 3 rounds in the mid game and you lose like 30 health.

Not sure how many times now there's been seven people left in the lobby, I'm sitting there with ~20 life and the bottom three are all one loss away from death. So I'm looking at what seems to be an easy top 4, and then I take 20+ damage ithe next turn and die and every single one of those players somehow survives the turn causing me to finish 7th.

Went from one positive finish away from hitting 7,000 to one negative finish away from being back in the 5,000s. Not sure if I've got worse, everyone else got better, or just straight up bad luck for a while.

Also willing to accept conspiracy theories that the game is intentionally giving me worse rng because I don't have the battlepass. I love excuses that make it clear it's not in any way my fault and someone else is to blame.

I think it's going to be too slow even with all of the Druid ramp, but that new Druid spell that gives all of your minions +4/+4 wherever they are is right up my alley.

I just full buy and then begin saving for the next expansion. However many it is, it is. Typically you get a few packs here and there along the way, so I'm not worried about leaving the pity timer hanging.

50 was always what I went with because it seemed like the point where the majority of packs became 40 dust, and I need dust even less than I need gold.

I use gold to buy packs as well. I used to just buy 50, but now I buy about 30 and continue buying in small groups until I hit a final legendary so I don't leave off on a large pity timer. The first two times I did it I ended up with ~50 anyway, but this last expansion I think I only got 36 packs doing it like this?

I also buy the single player content with gold, so that's some more I normally wouldn't have right now with it being free this year. I have about 18k gold at the moment so even after buying packs the next time around I'm still going to be sitting on five digits of unused gold.

I know that feeling. I've dropped about 700 points since pirates were released.

I really should just buy the battlepass next expansion. I treat the gold like megalixers in rpgs to begin with so I might as well get something out of it. I just had to pick between Curator and Galakrond for this current game so I'm likely not making up much of that 700 this go around either.

I finished 7th and 8th in my last two games, losing a collective seven fights total where I had less than a 20% chance to lose each of them.

I am officially tilted. And of course, the best thing to do when tilted is queue for another game.

Edit: Second in the chaser game. Thought I had first locked up but my opponent got a Brann and Megasaur on what should've been the final round. Didn't even hit poison, his dudes were just so thick that the divine shield was enough to completely swing things.

How low do you need to get for Zeph to offer healing? He refuses to give me healing after Alex which makes him rather pointless against Quest Warlock for me. I know the Malygos is coming but I can't get any healing to stop it.

This heroic adventure is actually a bit tough. Can't rely on the usual suspects because wild cards aren't allowed, and my collection for standard isn't that deep so even some of the strategies that seem like they would work are unavailable to me. I actually had to build decks to beat two of the first five bosses because my Reno Mage wasn't cutting it.

Since the new pirate heroes are available now for plebs like me, I decided to play a handful of games. Experiences...

Played four games, finished third in every one. In fact, they all had the exact same pattern of me getting smashed for a while, falling to single digit life and in last place, pulling out something good on what should've been my last turn and surviving until I inevitably get throttled by one of the two good comps in the lobby.

Macaw+Baron is a bit sad without their wolf companion, but double golden Macaw paired with a Baron and a golden Kaboombot is still pretty great. Feels good when you attack with a single bird and literally wipe their entire board in one go. Feels less good when both birds and the bot get their attacks off but the opponent is so far beyond you that you don't even kill a single minion. Those were some big ass pirates.

I feel like the odds of this happening aren't as ridiculously low as I'm imagining them to be, but I had a game where the entire lobby tied the first two turns of the game.

One of the decks I beat was your Choices, Choices, but it had a + Something Else attached to it. I filled my entire board up with my hero power minions and used two Ice Lances to deal 60 damage.

I almost killed myself in the last game I played when I cast Arcane Intellect and math'd wrong, nearly fatigued myself to death on turn 6 or something.

So I don't know how busted everything else is in this brawl, but I started with Elements 247 and it feels incredibly busted. Hero power summons a 2/3 that copies your spells, only costs one and can be used twice a turn?

I think I've got 16k gold right now. It started as saving gold each expansion to make sure I could buy my ~50 packs to just being stingy for whatever reason. Same with dust, sitting on 30k.

Which version of Millificent is actually better? I mean, neither are good but I think I'd rather have the +2 attack over the +1/+1.

Was in the final two in a game of battlegrounds with a shielded mech build but only with bad mechs along with a random Maexxna and Battlemaster to rounds things out, against Milhouse with the shielded Saurolisk and avoid taverning up build. We were both in single digits so any win was lethal, even for his one star minions as I was at one health.

Deck Tracker literally gave us the exact same percentage chance to win, I believe it was 44.7%? The entire battle literally came down to him eventually having two Saurolisks on board, one with a shield and one without, and which one my Maexxna decided to attack.

I lost.

But wow, don't think I've seen deck tracker toss out a split percentage like that outside of early game 50/50s.
