| MetalmindStats 07/22/20 7:17:19 PM #4 | I guess I'll also agree with half_silver. Amicia has it tough here as the protagonist of a double-A Western game that had zero impact upon release here. Aloy looked terrible last contest even though she's the very well-liked protagonist of what turned out to be quite a strong game (though that's admittedly not a perfect comparison), and Amicia will be infinitely worse than that. Fox continues our streak of first rating the clearly weaker member of an intertwined duo after Jerry. At any rate, The X-Files hit its prime in 1997-1998, which is probably just a bit too early for most voters to care much about something that's not video game-related and was completely unappealing to kids (unlike Godzilla '98 for example). Meanwhile, Yellow was last in said Power Rangers poll by no small margin, and whatever childhood crush appeal Trini might have can't compensate for that lack of intrinsic popularity and memorability. I'll also nominate Raikou (Pokmon), Tyranitar (Pokmon), and Wile E. Coyote (Looney Tunes). Additionally, while I know there's an Avatar video game, I can't find any evidence that Jake Sully was actually in it. --- "I believe in a universe that doesn't care, and people who do." |

Yes, FFXIV did look quite respectable in GotD 2, but I'd guess that was largely on the strength of its brand name and reputation as the only great modern FF and perhaps the biggest turnaround in gaming. It simply doesn't have the playrate here to support a character worth much, as evidenced by these two (admittedly pre-Shadowbringers) polls: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/poll/7193-are-you-currently-playing-an-mmorpg + https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/poll/6802-are-you-one-of-the-10-million-cumulative-players-of-final I'll also nominate Rey for reranking, on the basis that she's a highly divisive character from an almost as divisive trilogy, and most voters probably don't fall firmly on the positive side about either. | MetalmindStats 07/20/20 5:32:23 PM #5 | Buffy: Low Fodder - I'd actually argue that her show's just the right age for something that's not kids-oriented on GameFAQs, given that our voterbase's average birth date is at the start of 1987. I don't know, though - I somehow feel like even the people who had a crush on her as teenagers have stopped caring now. Also, that Xbox poll really doesn't support anything considering that Magus doubled Sam Fisher in the first contest after it, and more generally that the Xbox was an utterly hated, largely unplayed system back then. Andy: Low Fodder Jerry: Low Fodder - Jerry generally being the one who kids like and adults don't seems like a much bigger disadvantage in this case than it would be for something like SpongeBob that was strongly relevant when (a portion of) voters were kids. You've already about maxed out the nomination interest as is, and I bet a pretty decent chunk of those who did offer nominations won't come back for more regardless. If you do bump the count up to 128, I recommend allowing each nominator to second one of their choices in addition to increasing the nom cap. As for the poll, 3 > 1 > 2.
