Forgive my lack of knowledge of the lore but all I remember of Reptile from 9 is him being complete fodder to pad out the story by giving it more fights. Would they give a goon like him late DLC treatment?

They seemingly gave his role to Kollector for this game. Its odd, I dont think they make any reference to Reptile in the story at all.

I wish theyd give villains story mode chapters so they could get a win sometimes.

I started wondering if the final players could just time each other out instead of risking getting killed but according to the last few posts i guess the timer goes down faster

But apparently its still inconsistent?

Theres a point at which the timer starts going faster for everyone, but also the timer will speed up if you stay in one place for too long.
Also the timer tops out at 400 seconds so even if you wanted to just wait and hope the others time out, odds are they have a similar amount of time left as you but theyll recover time by killing stuff and youll just run out.

Then once red time hit their times decreased at the rates you would expect

Any idea what makes them start penalizing your time early?

Ive had this happen and I think its if you stay in the same place for too long.

after playing a bunch of this I decided to boot up All-Stars briefly and play normal SMB, and I didnt realize until now how many levels in the game are just slightly different versions of earlier levels.

I warp zoned to 4 and then to 5 and I get to 5-3 and am like wait this is the level I just played three dozen times in Mario 35, but with bullet bills

the one time I used the secret rail I had a crazy good run, but I dont know if it was because of the gun or in spite of it

I remember I got two Daedalus upgrades that were specific to the beam. One made the damage scale faster, the other one I dont remember

played a couple hours of this last night. It kind of feels too easy but also too tedious/hard to actually win.
Unless I stupidly mess up a jump, Im consistently top 3 and won twice, but the endings of those matches I win just feel like they go on forever because everyone whos still left has racked up a ton of time. I died at 4 or 5 in one game while I had like 400 seconds and spectated the other players and they all also had like 400 seconds.

also I legit might have played 1-1 a hundred times last night.

Im still kind of enjoying it, and kind of curious about the meta game aspect. Ive been trying to warp zone my way to a castle so I can subject other people to Bowser, but maybe Id just be better off looping 1-1 for eternity.

I want a version of this for SMB3 or World so there can be some more power up variety

but also sometimes on the last floor you can get that anvil that removes one random upgrade and replaces it with two more

I got that one time with the rail and it gave me the cluster bomb and the thing that changes the bomb to a rocket and it was the most over powered experience Ive had. 5 point blank rockets is a lot of damage.
