Not speaking for LTM, who probably wishes there was less freedom etc, but a lot of people just aren't into multiplayer rpgs. Even if I could just do story quests, I have no inclination to play an rpg with others and never have. I really only like multiplayer if I'm competing with folk (fighters/shooters etc) - co-op just isn't for me.

XIV has a pretty strong competitive aspect, even setting aside its pvp content. Battling for a top DPS placement takes a serious amount of effort, speaking as someone who's only top 5th percentile and not a top 1% monster. It's a lot like competitive weightlifting, kinda -- super supportive community that will nonetheless absolutely flex on you if you're not on the level.

The Player has fought the exact described tactics as a lategame boss. Like, exactly 'teleport in, start being a speedy super destructive magic asshole'. As I recall, Luminite shots pierce shields, too, so y'know, she better have good personal durability against getting minigunned cause I don't think that's gonna help.

I don't know, I think that's a pretty good record. Ask fans of things like Terminator or F+F how many of those movies that they actually like.

I like three out of five terminator movies I saw (haven't seen Dark Fate yet), so that gives it a higher percentage of hits than Star Wars already. You just need to like one of the post-2 movies to do better than Star Wars, and that's not a huge ask tbqh.

Yes, this is the absolute lowest point out of the mainline movies. Regardless where you think RoS ranks overall, No single moment in the prequels is this bad.

Naw, it's a tie between Palps going Super Saiyan Dark Red and the ending. Both are even more egregious. You could also make a case for 'Kylo comes back into the movie and literally never speaks, because ????'.

Also this. Before 9 dropped I would've said Sequels>Prequels even though I really disliked TFA. RoS is just indefensible though. It's actual poison and it kills me that so much money went into that movie that could've been given to better creators.

So PT is like your annoying friend who is still your friend, while ST is unremarkable normal guy.

This plus the followup post is an excellent analogy. The sequel trilogy (sans 8) is 'better done', and yet not worth watching. And then RoS is just flat out the worst star wars movie by a significant margin, and tanks the franchise in general going forward. I don't even know how you make more movies after it.

Regardless of which movie is your favorite among the sequels, there's only one good one, so that's the same as the prequels, but the actiony choreography is worse across the board and the music likewise. So like...what does it have over them? Maybe a couple good money shots?

I actually think Flash wins for precisely that reason. Hades is too massive and dangerous to fuck around with. It'd have to be a super low tier Flash for him to lose against a walking catastrophe, since that's a good excuse to break out the speed force shenanigans.

He doesn't need it. Vortex armor has an invisibility mode. You'll notice my arguments center on shooty stuff for a reason, as I think it's the most 'complete' form of the Player.

Oh yeah, and lest we forget he's also dealt with enemies that bounce attacks back at him too

Like that's a fight canonically necessary to finish the game since it's part of the Lunar Events, and it's much more irritating than dealing with a single reflective enemy since it's against an actual horde of assholes who do this. I genuinely can't think of a single gimmick Aang can try the Player hasn't seen before.

I genuinely don't think Aang gets to play here. He's facing an opponent who is definitely tankier, more mobile, knows he's coming thanks to the PDA, AND controls the terms of engagement. It's like...what is his advantage? That we assume he can perfectly counter everything the Player dishes out? At a certain point it starts becoming more and more improbable that he can survive a multi round homing shot burst from the SDMG without getting ventilated, and that's not even including the fact the Player also has weapons that can allow him to become a draintank too if you think it matters. You have to believe Aang has a massive skill advantage to win and I don't, so this match seems kinda easy to me.

Leaning the Player here. He has every reason to control the terms of engagement, and 'I beat Cthulhu's relative' is a hell of a lot more impressive than most things Aang's done, as is traveling to the center of the earth and all that other jazz.

Also, I forgot to say this, but he doesn't need to aim to hit Aang either. Chlorophyll bullets have massive homing, so the Player can just focus on flying around while summons and homing shots chase Aang and it's kind of a bad look for the latter since he's fragile.

I think the key thing is that Mario has ways to juke and trick the Beast. Off the top of my head, he has the invisibility cap, he can use Cappy to potentially possess the Beast and KO him with a reckless move, special hammers to cause quakes or whatever...he's versatile, and that means he has a lot of ways to earn his victory. The Beast is really good, sure, but is he good enough that he can overcome a bag of tricks as large as the moustached man's is?

Materia, as a general concept, is canon. Cloud can use Shield to give himself temporary invulnerability, specifically, is not. Especially when you are arguing that as his go to strategy!

I used it as an example because it's the biggest blowout, not the only way to win. I listed like, five different possible materia usages Cloud could employ to give himself a leg-up, from hasting himself to quadrupling his magical defenses (and physical ones), using the debuff cocktails he has access to, to just healing himself to effectively negate anything that didn't kill him, in case Shield was implausible. I didn't even go into Command and Summon materia cause it was overkill, either. My argumenting scheme is very simple: present the easiest solution, then list additional ones in case anyone thinks it is improbable. Is that a problem?

No? I can't think of any example. The two videogame characters I made arguments for were the Doomslayer and Cloud, and both of them have their stuff justified by lore (materia is canonical, the Slayer's health pickups have a lore appearance). I can't think of anyone else who had relevant gameplay stuff.

Thing is, none of those things happen in cutscenes. Most can be chalked up to gameplay mechanics. 'Cutscene Mario' tends to be pretty grounded overall. This is in contrast to Wario, who is highly toonforce everywhere. So it's hard for me to take Mario seriously, because he kind of doesn't...have verifiable feats, mostly.

Willing to be convinced Mario has a shot by turbo Mario lore masters but otherwise I think this is a stomp. The Beast was horrendously mistiered and would've been a solid Mid entrant.
