Worth noting is that interracial couples were still kind of taboo in TV at the time Rose and Bernard were a thing, and I always appreciated Lost did that.

Aside from that, great, simple background story they had. Just a basic story that works so well for this. I did love how they were just eventually like "We're not getting involved in your silly bullshit just let us fucking hang out on an island Jesus what are you guys even doing messing with all this shit like this is DUMB do you feel dumb doing it you fucking losers because you should."

I mean, Jin's death is truly, really just a betrayal of all of his character development and entirely baffling why they did that.

Faraday is always someone who deserved better and deserved more and his death was the shits and so god damn stupid. I still don't understand why they would have killed him off there anyway. Just such a pointless death. I'd probably rank him higher just because he really was so enjoyable when he was around and I frankly can't think of 14 more characters better than him.

He was such a different sort of character that stood out far more than most others and actually, you know, seemed useful in a cast where everyone's usefulness started to becoming more dwindling with all of the complete nonsense happening everywhere and characters being devalued by bad writing.

Yeeeeah Keamy doesn't get enough respect as an antagonist. My Keamy rant is this:

In a show where everyone plays stupid fucking games of subterfuge and nonsense with magic island warfare, Keamy just comes along and very decidedly goes "I'm not playing your dumbass games."

So when Ben's like "lol ya i dont care u got my daughter i dont even love her" he just kills her, boom. No games. Doesn't give a shit if Ben is bluffing or not. He's here to get a job done. End of story. Just mows down Others no problem. Just makes it clear he's here to do his job and he's not listening to anything else.

Keamy is just terrifying and effective and such a good choice because he is absolutely against playing nonsense island games and was such a unique element to the show during that season, and it's a shame it was during the writer's strike because he could have had so much more too.

"Sun is such an alcoholic. She's always asking for gin."

It was also ridiculous what they did with her through the final two seasons. That death was so maddeningly stupid. STUPID. It's one of those moments where they removed all logic and sense so we could have another "feels" moment, when all you're doing is left with a feeling that these people suck and were so unbearably selfish.

How did you not have Jin leave the island after that? Like, Sun came back to bring him home so he could be with his daughter. How is it not more touching of a scene for Sun to be all "Our daughter needs her father now." Like, Sun goes through so much (and if I remember right, some not-so-good stuff) to get Jin back. It only makes sense that Jin escapes to make good on everything Sun went through and give us what probably would have been the most feel good escape from the island of anyone. It was really THAT easy. I don't know how they made such an obvious mistake. I don't know how they overlooked this. I don't know how they failed such an obvious set up and pay off to a storyline.

It was so bad that LOST superfan Jimmy Kimmel who always had nothing but good things to say about the show was talking to someone on his show and was like "Okay, but why did nobody go back to be a parent? Now this girl is orphaned." And they were just like buuuuuuh...?

Just terrible.

I was not watching live until season 5 so I cannot confirm, but that is hilarious (and completely believable) if true.

God, it's almost unfair you watched that way.

Without the 6 seasons of fan speculation you don't get the utter disappointment of it all and the maddening amount of effort that people went into trying to analyze these characters and such.

And then the crushing realization when we slowly realized "Oh wait they aren't actually as clever as we all thought they were and we did a lot of speculation based on shit they didn't actually plan out."

Widmore is kind of laughable in hindsight. I remember it being so flaccid in Season 6 with him, but I couldn't even tell you what actually happened to him in Season 6 at all. I just remember so much disappointment from it.

But Richard is weird. Because it absolutely feels like everyone laughed and then said "Hahaha, Richard doesn't age at all because of the shitty make-up work," and then people did as they usually did and went "So what if it's really BECAUSE he can't age?"

And then it felt like the writers just leaned into that because it was a stupid fan theory based on a bad wig or whatever it was? Like, more than anything else in Lost, I distinctly remember it feeling like something they just tacked on after the fact.

That said, Nestor Carbonell is an amazing actor. He's brilliant in Bates Motel. I really enjoyed the character throughout the series. I'd probably rank him higher still, but I'm not going to complain too much. It's such a bizarre choice they made with the character.

Am I crazy and remembering this timeline of events wrong? Because I swear that's how this played out in fan circles and then the writers.

Oh shoot, I just realized that I missed the other two write ups!

Yeah, the whole Alex death scene is just so bad for so many reasons, honestly. They should have done a lot more with her, but you know.

I'm still holding back my Keamy thoughts, but it should be obvious I think highly of him as a villain. But using her death to elevate him absolutely sucked, even if it did a perfect job doing just that with him. Should have been any other character in the Others.

But those people who watched are all elderly and can't remember what even happened last week though.

Jokes aside, this is the shittiest trope WWE does with having the champion and challenger fight for the titles and usually win them, and it's so pathetic how often it happens during the Wrestlemania lead up too. Like this is so lazy and indicative of how bad they treat their tag division that they just make their champions just meaningless for the champion/challenger build up, and it's not even a compelling story. Who gives a shit how they work as a team or if they can get along?

Most Young Bucks storylines are pretty bad in AEW, but at least they try to do a lot more with all of their tag teams there.

I mean, I think that it's not shocking when looking back at Lindelof and Cuse were talking about how the answers to mysteries don't matter coming into the last season. They just threw bullshit at the wall most times.

They also proclaimed it's about the characters, but I think it's agreed upon they did a shitty job with the characters in the last season of the show too, so at least if they bothered to follow through on mysterious bullshit then more people would've been happy.

Like Charlotte. You could have done something really interesting with her, but you just didn't. And just certain deaths feel so wasted and pointless, hers included. I've actually never understood why Lost kills off most of their characters when they do. It completely baffles me sometimes. Big ones, they make sense. It's just all of the other deaths between finales and stuff that confound me.
