wanted to take a second to highlight one of the weirder side-stories surrounding ant-man for those who aren't aware of it: Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington have (had?) a movie review satire show on the Adult Swim YouTube called On Cinema at the Cinema. Gregg Turkington got the role of the Dairy Queen manager in Ant-Man and in the show, Tim Heidecker was so jealous he gave Ant-Man the only 1/5 rating ever (the show's gimmick is that they give 5/5 to literally every movie).

Peyton Reed came on as a guest star and got involved in the joke at this point; Tim went on to pay his own money to get a role as the abusive dad in the shitty Fantastic Four reboot, and a running subplot in the show became FF vs Ant-Man. when it became obvious that FF was shit Tim backpedaled his stance on ant-man and asked peyton Peyton Reed to give him a cameo in Ant-Man and the Wasp as the Ferry Driver just so that Gregg wouldn't have exclusivity in being in actual good superhero movies

I know this might sound boring but I think it's fucking hilarious that there's this entire weird meta side-story involving two actors in throwaway roles in the MCU that most people probably forgot about

I kind of wonder if many of the lower rankings for Ant-Man were people who just saw it once, since that was a movie that really didnt click for me the first time and probably would have been at or near the bottom of the list for me that first time.

I've seen it three times and it still does not really work for me too well.

Its release year may be a little arguable (wide theatrical was 2020) but I think it's Synchronic, awesome sci-fi horror film about the effects of a drug that physically transports you back in time. Lots of heady concepts and great commentary of aspects on our current culture.

I know you said you don't like horror but you gotta check out DUSK, amazing Doom-like shooter with terrific atmosphere and Lovecraftian themes, but if the horror elements really get you down, the same developer also made a Hexen-like called Amid Evil which is also great.

I think they are, with the caveat in mind that your choices will matter even less than S1 going forward. I think they're still fun stories to go through, I still enjoy the character interactions overall.

Obadiah Stane is a pretty good villain to me since I feel like they didn't waste a great casting like they did with Hugo Weaving or Mads Mikkelsen. The performance was exactly what I expected from Jeff Bridges. Also admittedly I just love the BOX OF SCRAPS line.

I love how Kung Fu Panda is part of the conversation at the same time as the rest of these movies.

None of the movies mentioned are things I'd pass on for not wanting to see the content. Parents letting me watch horror movies from as young as I can remember to over two decades of mostly the worst the internet has to offer has pretty much desensitized me to just about everything, so there's no shock or curiosity towards what these movies can do or get away with now. And after you take that away I struggle to find a reason to want to watch them as I don't think I'd enjoy them through any other lens.

Yeah this is pretty much me too. My mom is probably a bigger horror fan than I am, so I was raised on horror movies, and she is always the one introducing me to the more intense stuff!

I do think the extreme French films have a lot of depth to them, they're more than just blood and gore to me.

I think it's Microsoft Flight Simulator, its graphical fidelity can make a still image look like real life and its AI-generated real-world data feels like it's truly blurring the lines between game & real-life.
