I think the staff are all on the same page about it.

But this is redneck WI country, so kids are definitely going to come from homes that literally don't think the virus exists.

Speaking as a teacher, it's important to me because I only get 45 minutes of classtime per student. Students that walk in late not only disrupt the flow of my class, but now compete for time trying to catch what they missed.

Now I personally think we (society) need to rethink the structure of the "school year" and "school day" at a fundamental level, but that's a different conversation and for now I'm forced to value every minute I get.

That's still true though. Masks don't really stop you from catching the virus. They stop you from spreading it.

A mask is ineffective if you touch a contaminated surface and then touch your face (which was why the narrative back then was wash your hands and stop touching your face). It's effective only in reducing, nay, stopping the virus from contaminating surfaces and spreading through the air because it is too big to pass through the fabric/mask. Now that the virus has spread and millions may have it without knowing, the narrative reflects this by telling everyone to wear a mask in case they have it so as not to spread it.

I know this reasoning will fall deaf on many people here, including the quoted. But maybe someone will get the message and understand why mask wearing is important and why things have changed so much in the past months.

Maybe the leadership of those planets, but I doubt the general populace cared much about the Jedi. Especially since Count Dooku, the public figurehead of the Separatists, was a former Jedi. A great deal of people thought the Jedi were to blame for the entire war in the first place, so they definitely didn't mind when Palpatine erased all knowledge of the Jedi from the galaxy.

OK but to the point where nobody recognizes them? 40 years isn't that long to forget what was written as a terrorist organization. And remember that Mandolorian happens after the fall of the Empire. The rebels all knew of the Jedi by proxy, and news that the Empire was toppled by a Jedi spread fast if we look at the (special edition) ending of Episode 6.

There weren't that many Jedi, only around 10,000 Jedi across the entire galaxy.

The average person never saw a Jedi in their lifetime.

This doesn't make any sense. Their home was at the capital of the Republic, their tales were passed around in taverns all over. Even Outer Rim systems like Tatooine were no strangers to Jedi.

I saw it for the first time last week, so I'm a bit slow on all of the lore.

But why does it seem that nobody knows about the Jedi? It was, what, 40 years since the Old Republic collapsed? The rebels used "May the Force be with you" as their slogan and they were numerous. Why did nobody know who the Jedi were?
