Why? So long as the sentence falls within sentencing guidelines for the specific crime, it's not really a morality issue, it's an administrative issue and in this instance it seems just (it's a potential public safety hazard that also flies in the face of a statewide executive order).

I mean if there's a legal statute that he violated by not complying then he is right to face charges. Seems pretty black and white.

I'm not arguing with the punishment in regards to law, but rather the morality of such punishment existing.

Forcing people to dwindle their savings via militaristic action is not going to work. American's will rebel.

They gave americans a one time payment of 1,200 dollars 6 months ago. That's like 6 dollars a day. If they are going to close the country by force, then you can't demand people not seek employment, and still pay their rent & utilities...and purchase food.

If you are going to keep people from earning an income, and force them by force to obey the order, then people are going to revolt.

For Example:
In this order from Boulder, CO "you are not allowed to go to work unless failure to do so would result in your inability to earn enough income to pay your rent"

So you are supposed to call the number and provide proof that you don't have enough money to pay your rent or purchase food unless you receive a steady paycheck? Which means that if you have worked hard to create a savings account, retirement fund, or you have assets that could be liquidated...you aren't allowed to go to work. You are just forced to bleed yourself dry?

Here is a thought...either let people earn an income, or provide them w/ enough of a monthly stimulus that they can pay rent and purchase supplies without ruining their futures.

The Charles County Sheriff's Office says 42-year-old Shawn Marshall Myers hosted a gathering of between 50 and 60 people on March 22 at his Hughesville home, in violation of Gov. Larry Hogan's prohibition on large gatherings of people that was in effect at the time.

"Myers was argumentative with officers but eventually agreed to disband his party," according to the county State's Attorney.

Less than a week later, though, on March 27, officers responded to his home again for another report of a party exceeding 50 people.

"Officers told Myers to disband the party, but again he was argumentative claiming he and his guests had the right to congregate," the State's Attorney says. "Beyond being argumentative, Myers directed his guests to stay in defiance of Governor Hogans Orders and the officers lawful orders to disband the party."
This time, he was arrested.

On Friday, after a bench trial before District Court Judge W. Louis Hennessy, Myers was convicted of two counts of Failure to Comply with an Emergency Order and sentenced to a year of active incarceration to be served at the Charles County Detention Center. Upon release, Myers will be on unsupervised probation for a period of three years.

Red Ventures could theoretically do an audit and see where they want to put their efforts into. GameFaqs is in risk of shutting down. I doubt they will, but it is possible.

CNet was sold to CBS in 2008 for 1.5 billion dollars, and now Red Ventures acquires it for only 500k. Obviously, it wasn't making CBS any money, as they just took a 64% loss on their investment. It would be foolish of Red Ventures to simply keep all of the CNET employees and operate business as usual, they should be looking to strip down it's assets and turn a profit.

His crime was peacefully protesting against government oppression.

That's a direct quote from the article. The truth is that the police departments have trained their officers NOT to risk their lives to serve & protect.

As such, they act as if they are cowards. I'm not sure if they are actual cowards...but cowardence is taught and preached by the system. To act in cowardence is simply to follow policy.

I support the BLM movement not so much because I believe that cops are racist, I don't, I just think the system is broken. It motivates cops to harass impoverished communities, and act out of cowardence (policy) whenever there is a confrontation.

The current police system needs to be torn down and rebuilt. 75% of the cuurent police force needs to be fired, and in its place new hires who are physical capable, and possess the two most important traits when becoming an officer: common sense & bravery.

Currently "common sense" & "bravery" are looked down upon and treated as "4 letters words."

Frankly speaking, the job of an officer is NOT to uphold the law. It is to serve & protect the community...even at the expense of one's own life.

That is how they teach it in college, when I got my criminal justice degree. Cops should be superhero's, not petty debt collectors.

Jacob gets a lot of harassment on this site, and although some of it is in direct response to his own actions...most of it actually is not. Jacob has become something akin to a "fictional character" here on GameFaqs that these boards forget is actually a real human being. As such, any post he makes is often met w/ a "mob like" mentality, where its basically "monkey see, monkey do" in terms of the insulting replies, and comments meant to bait him into a moderation.

Nobody even realizes they are doing it, because bullying Jacob has become as normal as eating or breathing. Its sad, and I really wish users would just let him be.

You basically want them to discriminate against women and people below average height instead of just training them better.

Last year a cafe I go to in San Francisco called the police on a crazy homeless guy who kept coming in and taking a shit/pee on the floor.

I've helped the cafe get rid of this dude multiple times, without ever having to feel as if I was in danger. I just grab him and toss him out. It's easy.

A female police officer showed up. She was by herself (big no no) was about 5'3, and fat. The crazy guy tore a small branch off a tree and began swinginh it towards her. She shot him. He lived, but like, it was two to the chest. She also missed a few times and shot through the cafe's window.

The officer was fearing for her life. Because of course she was. What else could she have done? Absolutely nothing. She had no other option but to shoot him. Meanwhile had it been a male officer he would have taken the branch away and told him to get lost. Their wouldn't even have been a report made. Easy stuff.

Being a "beat cop" is the one job where discrimination in the hiring process must ocure. Women are scientifically physically weaker than men. It's the only thing men have an unfair natural advantage over. This isn't up for debate, it is just fact. So if women can't physically do the job, why are they allowed to become beat cops?

The current answer to that question is "because guns"

Guns are the great equalizer. The argument for equality amongst the police force is that "guns are the great equalizer" so why risk your life for others, and put yourself in physical danger when you can simply shoot them and call it a day? If we as a society want this policing philosophy abolished, then we must be conscious of what would actually happen if we did indeed required the police to shoot as a last resort...

..the physically weaker police officers would mostly be assaulted, seriously injured, and in many cases killed. Why put them in that position in the first place?

Women can be detectives, swat members, forensics... anything but a first responder. How is this not common sense?
