Continued iteration of an already excellent combat system and improved pacing past the first act come together to create a unique experience that I will no doubt continue to treasure for a long time. Though it took a while to get here, the journey was absolutely worth it. --- |

However, now that I've seen the whole story, I can only say that those issues never went away. Screen Rant - 8/10 There aren't any massive improvements from Trails of Cold Steel 3, but Cold Steel 4 refines nearly everything to create a smoother experience overall. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 4 is a finale that fans can't miss, and the way the game weaves together narrative threads from the last 15 years is truly impressive. differing opinions! --- |

Although a lot of game journalists are playing with pre-release builds of PS5's and XSeX's this week so who knows how many of them have the time for another 80 hour JRPG. A lot of influencer reviews are going up on Youtube over the past hour though if you want to check any of those out. https://opencritic.com/game/10391/the-legend-of-heroes-trails-of-cold-steel-iv IGN Italy - 8.2/10 Enjoyable in some respects, but very disappointing in others, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV does not fail to live up to the series' legacy. Still, it's a little step back compared to the third installment. That fits with about what I've heard of CS4. Doesn't quite live up to CS3, but still a pretty good game nonetheless just from being a Kiseki game. --- |

Pretty much plays like an old Ninja Gaiden game, but it mixes in some light elements from Metroid and Link to the Past You'll pretty much get all the trophies from completing the story 100% and finding all the upgrades and collectables throughout the game. The only one that I had to keep an eye on was making it from the beginning of the game to about the 3rd major boss without dying. Luckily it's not ridiculously difficult and the checkpointing is fairly generous so anyone should be able to enjoy it. Some of the bosses can be tough, but with enough practice you'll get them down in no time. Still gotta check out whatever this DLC is though sounds like a picnic! --- |
