It starts off as a mostly paint-by-numbers magical girl series until Fate shows up halfway into the first season, then the action and violence picks up. The Gundam comparisons really start to take shape in A's (the second season) when the girls' weapons get modified to use magic cartridges as "ammo" and their barrier jackets start to look a lot more Gundam-like. From there, it just gets crazier and crazier. You should watch that too. I want to see another Bamco rep, and my top picks are Yoshimitsu, Nightmare, and Lloyd Irving. All technically sword characters, but only Lloyd is anime.
