GrabASnickers 02/07/21 3:00:09 PM #76 | People used to complain all the time that Zelda was stale, you really can't please everyone. Everyone fondly remembers the dungeons and the items and the structured storytelling, but they seem to forget about the contrived fetchquests, the arbitrary barriers, the throwaway dungeon items and the nagging sidekicks. It might have been possible to have a "traditional" Zelda game without some of the stuff but there are some things I don't think you can have both ways. If BotW had traditional Zelda puzzles based around dungeon items for example it could take away the ability to do the dungeons in any order or might block off certain sections of the map. |

GrabASnickers 02/07/21 2:07:58 PM #22 | If you don't count GB and spinoff games, SMB3, SMW and SM64 is a really good one. I'd go with ALttP, OoT, MM over OoT, MM, WW... if it counts. Mario and Zelda really have a lot of stretches you could pick here |

GrabASnickers 02/07/21 2:02:19 PM #69 | I haven't played RDR2 but that sounds like the kind of stuff that's in Skyrim and I think that stuff sucks. Maybe RDR is more engaging with it but like the books in Skyrim for example, everyone I talked to never actually read that shit. You can do a bunch of little micro tasks and pick up tiny household items in Skyrim as well but I find that stuff such a waste of time. I'd rather just find a weapon somewhere, even if it'll break, rather than have to gather up a bunch of materials, make sure over the course of the game I level up enough so I can make it, then finally make a cool weapon. Okay, I went on a bit of a tangent there, and am not talking about the same game, but my point is, there are mechanics some people like that others don't like. But I still like Skyrim, it's just a different game, and its mechanics fit with it. It just sounds like you're expecting the game to be something it was never trying to be in the first place. |

GrabASnickers 02/07/21 1:50:48 PM #63 | I think the Koroks and interesting terrain details are a nice way to pad out the traversal of the world while still feeling natural. You can't just put dungeons or towns every ten feet. The game is incredibly interactive though? If you are just looking for "content" then maybe it'll disappoint a little but part of the main appeal is the different ways you can use the physics and tools in your immediate environment to approach something. I think it helps make up for other things. Horses aren't great, but it's nice you can climb just about anywhere and glide to your destination. Yeah there aren't many enemies but you can find creative ways to engage them. Weapon breaking adds some utility to different things in your inventory and all these systems feed into a desire to experiment with a bunch of different ones. Sounds like you don't really like open world games in general, you could describe a lot of them like "It's so boring and repetitive, all you do is a bunch of similar missions where you have to go kill some guy or find some relic in a dungeon." |

Yeah, the world is so well designed it's ridiculous. You can stand pretty much anywhere and look around and there will probably be multiple things you want to check out. Chances are you won't have to go very far to find one and if you do, you'll pick up a ton of other points of interest along the way - which is exactly how an open world game should be. |

I spend like $50 a month or less for gas. I work from home now but when I didn't, I'd still rarely go much higher than 50. It depends on your vehicle and local prices, but for me I'd have to drive 2500 miles a week to spend $300. That's a conservative estimate too, it'd probably be more like 3000. $3 a gallon = 100 gallons (it actually is less than $3 where I live) 25 mpg (probably would be higher given a lot of these miles would have to be highway) 25 x 100 = 2500 |

Topic | Biden's approval rating among Republicans is 11% |
GrabASnickers 02/07/21 1:23:13 AM #116 | Nice non-answer. The movement to phase out fossil fuels exists whether or not you think it's effective or not. So again I'll ask, what do you think should happen to those jobs as we are able to make more investments into alternative energy sources? Do you think it's more important to keep jobs than fight climate change? |

GrabASnickers 02/07/21 12:06:27 AM #18 | Conceding is not the same thing as quitting, quitting implies she gave up before the election. Conceding just means acknowledging a loss after it happened. Yes the election got more votes than any in US history, Trump also broke previous vote totals. This was a huge talking point around the results. This isn't hard stuff, maybe do a little basic research before you shit on people who voted for Biden so you don't make a complete fool of yourself. |

It lowkey has a lot of bad design to it but there's just an overall unshakable coolness factor to it. Plus like you alluded to it's fairly easy, and I'd take a poorly designed easy game over a frustrating one any day. It's a lot of fun if you don't think too much about shit like how a lot of the map doesn't make sense or how the second half of the game almost totally abandons its genre's core appeal of ability-based progression |
Topic | Biden's approval rating among Republicans is 11% |
GrabASnickers 02/06/21 10:46:48 PM #98 | What exactly do you think is supposed to happen to fossil fuel jobs? Were you just hoping the industry would never be phased out? Hoping you could ride it out til retirement before it was determined drastic? If you actually followed and listened to the warning signs, neither of those things have been considered plausible for a long time. |

Maybe you should've exercised better PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY (I know that anthropomorphic climate change hypotheses are much older, but I'm putting it at 20 to be a little fair since that's more when it became part of public consciousness) |

GrabASnickers 02/06/21 2:55:44 PM #11 | I can't remember if I used fairies but I've done three hearts before. You can shield from virtually everything and failing that do a backflip, though there are a handful of enemies that can be tricky to avoid. Lokison posted... Try doing MM in 6 day cycles. What do you mean by this, 6 total days? Because six entire cycles sounds like more than I already do. Wouldn't six total days require you to basically beat the entire game in one cycle? Since IIRC you can't even return to human form til the second cycle. |

GrabASnickers 02/06/21 12:47:55 AM #213 | Play some Metroid or Castlevania games if you haven't. A lot of people swear by the indies but IMO few that I've played live up to the genre's namesakes. Even if you don't think those series are the best, they're generally less polarizing, everyone loves them to some extent. Ori is really good, Bloodstained is good if you end up liking Castlevania and are cool with something that doesn't break the mold too much. Axiom Verge gets ranked highly a lot, personally I thought it was okay, but might be worth giving a shot. Then there's stuff like Guacamelee which I haven't played but it's popular and I guess it stretches the genre a bit. |

GrabASnickers 02/05/21 11:06:45 AM #13 | I don't really see this being a huge deal unless you're going on 10 hour flights/other transportation rides all the time. It would be nice if it would last that whole time but I don't usually like to play games that long even if it is the only thing to do. It's a fair complaint in those cases, but sometimes I see people who just play it around the house complain and I'm like why, you can just stick it back in the dock after each session |

And a dubious one at that given that 21 is also a common age limit legally. Then there's a lot of research around brain maturation not happening til around 25. I think a lot of newer Metroidlikes don't understand this or just don't do a good job of it Hell I just replayed SotN and that doesn't really do a good job of the map making sense either, but it still rules |

GrabASnickers 02/04/21 7:32:06 PM #100 | "Maturity level" is part of what makes it creepy, unless you're suggesting that all older guys who date younger women are immature themselves. Or maybe a lot of them just want to take advantage of their immaturity. It's easier to hide your shortcomings from someone who is more naive and doesn't have the life experience to recognize them |

And a lot of it IIRC was texturally very similar just with color variations save for maybe the city. Like instead of "grass area" and "cave area" like a typical game it felt more like green area and grayish brown area. |
