They'll be required to pay what they owe in taxes in bulk when they file taxes. If you thought you were paying income tax but weren't, you very likely won't be prepared for that type of expense.

So a bunch of people going to go to jail if they don't pay it?

Here in Maryland it seems like if you opted to take taxes out, that didn't actually happen. From several anecdotes, so take with a grain of salt. So I'm guessing a bunch of people think they are getting taxes taken out, but aren't, and will get screwed come tax season.

I don't know how US tax works. How are they screwed?

Maybe those people should be getting paid more then? 290 a week is fucking ridiculous.

Also I rarely see the people bitching about the people on unemployment talk about the much higher priced bailouts of businesses the government is pushing.

I fixed the link. But I agree it is dumb getting mad at the regular folk. They should be mad at government for not giving them hazard pay. Its looking like the extra 600 probably wont come back. The difference in pay the last 18 weeks was 5,220 for those that worked at 7.25 an hour to 13k to those that got the unemployment boost.

This chart probably explains some of the anger. People are making 290 a week working. While unemployed people from same job make 730 a week. It kinda crazy how much of an improvement in pay you get being unemployed with the extra 600.

In what circumstances can states pay less than federal minimum?

OP chart doesn't seem to take into acount taxes. I make 7.25 an hour. After taxes are taken out I get 250.

U.S. companies are raising new questions about how they can make workplaces safe after the worlds top public health agency acknowledged the risk that tiny airborne droplets of the novel coronavirus may contribute to its spread, industry healthcare consultants said. About two weeks ago, the World Health Organization called for more scientific study into airborne transmission of COVID-19. The move raised awareness of an issue excluded from U.S. government back-to-work guidelines, adding to the challenge of keeping people safe in offices, stores and work sites, these consultants said. Many companies devised strategies based on WHO guidance that large respiratory droplets of the virus could infect people when first emitted and after they landed on surfaces. Now the concern over infection is focused on the idea that tiny droplets could linger in the air for hours.

Employers are asking whether public health recommendations that individuals remain 6 feet apart and wear masks to limit transmission through large droplets are enough. They also wonder about air conditioning systems that do not have filtration systems and the effectiveness of plexiglass partitions against a virus floating in the air, said David Zieg, a lead consultant on clinical services at Mercer, another healthcare services companies.

Have extra masks. Or bring a towel.

I could end up contaminating the towel. I guess I have to bring extra gloves as well. And use separate gloves each time I have to wipe my face.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/coronavirus-infect-family-florida-dad-hospital-icu-spread-covid-a9625741.html

A Florida dad who fell ill the day after Fathers Day is fighting for his life after his 21-year-old son lied about seeing friends and spread coronavirus to the whole family. John Place, 42, was put on a ventilator for more than two weeks and remains on oxygen in a fragile and weak condition, according to his wife Michelle Zymet. Ms Zymet is urging the country to take coronavirus seriously after her stepson ignored his parents advice and visited friends, which spread Covid-19 throughout the familys home.

She said they begged and pleaded for him not to risk going out, to do his part, and to make smart choices to prevent the unimaginable from happening. He decided he wanted to go out and hang out once in a while, would lie to us Im wearing my mask dont worry Im social distancing its just one person Im seeing, Ms Symet said in a video posted to Facebook. Or Im going to go to the store just to pick this up Ill be right back dont worry. And I begged and I pleaded, please just dont go out right now its just not the time. God forbid anyone of us catch this and get sick. Especially your dad because hes a little overweight and, you know, not the healthiest lifestyle. Ms Zymet, whose famliy lives in the south of the state, said her stepson met with friends in June and removed his mask while eating and drinking. A few days later, he began feeling symptoms and learned that a friend at the gathering had tested positive for coronavirus.
