You should just go with sexuality or race. Being transgender isnt the condition. Its the gender dysphoria thing. They just often times correlate. Gender dysphoria is generally agreed to be a physical disorder nowadays I believe. Ok, so if a transgender person was born a man and they felt they were a woman they are a trans-woman, correct? If they were just born a woman would they still be transgender and feel like they should be a man or would they just be comfortable as a cisgender woman? Like if a man is gay I assume that if they were born a woman they would still be gay and like women... though now that i think about it that probably isn't necessarily true either. The reason it's a touchy subject is because the reason most people like to define or label a person is so that they can sort them into a camp of "misfits" or "less thans". In the same way that a person's sexuality doesn't really have any impact on their personality, or ability to think rationally, it's also true of trans people. A lot of the struggles that trans people face is from this outsider perspective and judgements placed upon them by society. It's like someone who's missing a limb; there's nothing WRONG with them, they just look a bit different. Being trans is really just a matter of how a person is wired, and a person can be be trans no matter if they've actually gone through the medical process of transition or now. Ok, but with that comparison someone missing a limb would be physically disfigured. See I was going to make that comparison in response to mywifebeatsme, but felt it might come across as offensive in some way, as in like people can get surgery to "fix" their gender, but there is no surgery to "fix" your sexual orientation. (I put fix in quotations because I don't actually believe there is anything to fix in terms of sexual orientation.) For people saying it is neither what would it be than? I keep getting people trying to shut down the idea that it is a physical or psychological condition, but if a transgendered person was born in the body they believe themselves to be would they still be transgendered or would they be cisgendered because they were born the gender they feel comfortable? --- Mind post.
