SDMB survived the 11-2 run towards the end!!!! Kinda crazy how after R2 I only had two of my original nominations remaining, but now they've both made round 6. When it retired last round, I was pretty much in shock, and it took a few days for me for the excitement to sink in. But yeah, I'm excited for several reasons. 1) SDMB's horrible R1 loss two years ago has been redeemed. 2) Pokemon has finally something retired, which was my top goal this year., and it was done with one of my own noms! (though DireKrow is the true original nominator of it, really, ^5 Direkrow!!!!) 3) SDMB is really great music, and that alone is enough to get me excited about its success.

Endeavour just might be this year's Revenger. I'm still happy about Partizan's performance... before the contest I would have never guessed it would do well.

Moonstruck Blossom, though... whoa, talk about dominating! I'm not sure how that happened. Midnight Lady is a lot weaker when extrapolated (or rather, compared directly) through The Filthy Mind as opposed to through Thermosphere. Maybe there was SFF going on? Or Thermosphere strenghtened as it progressed or something. Regardless, Partizans vs. Moonstruck should prove interesting.

Speaking of x-stats, this round we're going to be able to compare x-stats of the wildcards through two different paths! I'll do those calculations sometime soon.

Let's do a little comparison involving average ratings of the top 64 (R3 and up). Because Mycro, cako, and Haste have fairly similar tastes, I decided to put in adjusted mean and median scores for all users except those three. The differences are interesting.

I guess it's time I post the rating stats, complete with filters that anyone should be able to use! It's not the most sightly piece of work. I may adjust or add things later. Right now the names of the users are hidden, but maybe that's not necessary, since you could probably figure out who the users are anyway! Should I just show everyone's names? Keep in mind some of these ratings may be out of date, but I have what I have.

It is split into three main sections: Ratings for all 192 tracks, rankings for all 192 tracks, and rankings for the 64 tracks that made round 3. Ratings are, of course, what they are. Some of the rankings, however, had to be calculated since some users only did ratings.

I was hoping that was the case. Not only that, but NFUN's original vote for Rude Buster seems suspect.... it looks more like an anti-vote than a vote based on listening to the music. Then again, I just checked NFUN's ratings and he did rate Rude Buster higher than TIGAR. But I want to hear what was said on discord.

I'm too lazy to rank them right now, but wow! Five of Mycro's seven (non-support) nominations retired! That's nearly a third of the remaining field. Last year he only had one nomination that made round 3 (Caravon Stories' Raging Spirits), while the rest lost early. But yeah, it's an excellent set of retirees, probably even better than last year's (IMO). Eight I'd rate a 9+, and another three or four I'd rate an 8+. There's only one I'd rate below a 7, but that's only because I don't like the style of it... I think it's a worthy retiree, objectively speaking!

Rating stats (for the ~10 users who did ratings for tracks in this contest) are getting there. It should be ready tomorrow, I think. If anyone wants to send me any last minute adjustments, it's not too late! (either ratings or rankings are fine)

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. I made it all the way through the second run-through. However, I could never beat the boss on the final level with that horrible holy cross weapon (or whatever it is) that's required to get to the final boss.

Second match is much, MUCH better than the first match! I'm not particularly thrilled that either Akeldama or Credits must retire.... if only Ra Melody, Least 333 Sec, Seto Kaiba or Ar-ciel Ar-manaf were here instead. Or better yet, one of Geofront 4 or Fire Island Volcano. Geofront 4 is really, really cool with all the rhythmic interactions, chords, mix of styles and sounds.... I like it more and more as time goes on. But Fire Island Volcano absolutely nails a primitive folk music style better than almost anything I've ever heard.... the energy of it is just insane.

Hm. I've liked DNF more than TIGAR for the longest time, but I might like TIGAR more now. (in fact, yes I do now that I listened to them back to back!) I guess most of DN's melodies falls flat to me these days, and the early-mid stuff in TIGAR resonates with me more in terms of chords. Those effects that I didn't like that I associate with dubstep don't bother me anymore. DNF does has that amazing moment at 4:46, though.

Lion king = instant click for me! Unfortunately, this didn't have to do with the original movie....

My main issue with the remake is the meh voice acting... but the original Lion King set a VERY high bar there, so maybe I'm being too harsh? But I had no idea Lion King 2 was not utter garbage. Maybe I should watch it, after all.
