There can be other issues too but it doesn't change that fact that it's still racism.
It doesn't matter the reason.. Porn, fetish, Corona virus, don't like the way they look, etc.. It's still stereotyping, profiling, and ultimately racism.

But the racism is nuanced. It isn't always due to typical "alt-right" white supremacy. The racism isn't always political motivated. If a dude develops an asian fetish from watching porn, and that's how he sees asian women...then yea, its racism...but its tackles and solved in a completely different matter than just screaming at Trumpers. Is the porn industry a liberal industry? I honestly don't know?

If its racism, the yes I agree. The reason for the racism does still matter, though, as its important to understand how this person developed their prejudice, that way there is a problem that can be tackled and fixed to prevent future similar tragedies.

But shooting up a mall and killed 3 white people 5 asians, 5 blacks, and 7 hispanics doesn't make it a racially motivated killing just because he happened to kill more POC then white people. Thats what I'm getting at. Is shoehorning racism in as a motivation, when it might not be.

What if the guy shot up the mall because he lost his job, and was unable to receive any financial assistance from the government to help him get back on his feet, So he ended up homeless. He went to the mall just to inflict his pain and suffering onto others. If we start shoehorning race as a motivation into the equation, then the actual issues that led to this guy shooting up the mall go untouched...

This gets done alot, and is always in poor taste. It just just purposely leads to political discussions and ignore that actual issues that caused the tragedy. Thus, it's never fixed, and the same tragedy is bound to happen again.

EDIT: In this particular case the guy does look like he is indeed a racist. But my point still stands. Also, I'm banning you from the Official Discussion Topic thsi Saturday if you bring this up while we are watching ;-)

I still think that it is a huge issue that a vast majority of developing American youth get the majority of their Asian exposure from Porn in which actresses are fetiszised and stereotyped in a way that all other actresses are not.

If that is true, was it because he hates Asians for existing (like a racist) or because he sexually fetishized them and their related massage parlor due to the way Asian Adult Film Actresses are generally featured in pornoagrphy?

I think I had like 3 Asian kids in my high school. I would imagine its the same for alot of people across America. If the only Asian people a developing horny teenage see's on the regular is from pornography I'd imagine it be hard not to develop an Asian Fetish, and all the negative stereotypes that come with that.

I really do think its a serious issue. Kids these day all have mobile phones. They are all watching porn on the regular, and at an early age. Asian Americans for the most part are localized, there are many places across America without a significant Asian population. As such, these kids today are developing all of their knowledge on Asian people from media - and for the horny males out that that media is probably porn.

Its a problem I didn't have as a kid. Getting a hold of porn was hard as fuck. Internet wasn't a mass adopted thing yet, and in general once a year some kid would bring his dad's Playboy Magazine to school with him and we'd all huddle up over it on the playground like it was the Holy Fucking Grail.

I learned about Asian culture when I moved from Arizona to San Francisco in my early 20's. Prior to that all my knowledge came from Anime and Kung Fu movies. I mean that sucks, but what did you expect of me - I had only seen like two dozen or so Asians in my entire life up until that point.

If you ever typed in "asian" into one the the many Porno Tubes that exists you'll be subjected to hundreds of videos that roleplay off of the "asian massage parlor" trope.

They are all the same. Non-Asian man (usually white) is in at an Asian Massage Parlor getting a normal massage. For a little extra money the the guy ends up fucking her.

If this dude was a sex addict that actually checked himself into a mental institution at point, then I'm assuming that he's watched thousands of hours of such videos. So it's easy that he would associate the Red Light District asian massage parlors w/ the videos that he had watched over and over again.

He specifically went into asian salons. You know who you find in Asian salons? Asian women. He knew this.

Asian Americans have been receiving more prejudice and hate since the orange asshole won't stop calling it the China virus.

Asian salons have a stigmas of being associated with prostitution, where as regular beauty parlor's do not. Especially ones located in the "red light districts" of various urban areas.

I actually reside in the Red Light District of SF, and we have lots of Asian Parlors that are open in the afterhours that operate legally as legitimate salons, but they are typically marketed in bright lights and w/ sexual innuendo. Most people associated them w/ prostitution - whether or not they actually are.

This shooter targeted only the salon's in the Red Light Districts which were open in later hours. They may have been legitimate salons, but given the man's history of sex addition, it's pretty safe to say he associated them with prostitution.

A big segment of Asian American Pornography actually roleplays on this sleazy "male fantasy" - a male actor goes to get a massage at an Asian Salon, the Female actress role plays that for some extra cash he can get a "happy ending"and whala, just like that you have yourself a situation that escalates into a 15-30 minute porn video.

This is a very very common role playing scenario for American Pornography. If anybody uses the various "porno tubes" (and I know that CE does) if you type in "Asian" within the search bar you'll get hundreds of these videos. If the dude was associating these parlors w/ his sex addiction. Its most likely he was relating to them the situations he probably watched play out on a daily basis within the thousand of hours of porn watching he inflicted upon himself.

Maybe there should be a discussion on how Asian adult film actresses are depicted within the industry and openly put into videos that support negative stereotypes, and encourages dangerous race fetishing. Non asian adult film actresses are not subjected to the same situations, and as such do no suffer from such problems.

Background:
I live in San Francisco, a super liberal city w/ a high population of Asian-Americans (I'm engaged to one actually) and today my social media feeds all revolve around "ending asian-hate" and attempting to discredit the shooter's motives that he shot of the massage parlors because he wanted to eliminate the temptation due to hus sex addiction issues.

Some of the people on my feed are going through great lengths to psychoanalyze and connect the dots to make sure that everyone knows that this was a white supremacist motivated shooting. Including trying to justify that "sex addiction" is a white person problem, and there for violence due to sex addiction equates to violence due to white supremacist values.

It just doesn't make any sense to me. Like what's the point? Why try to shoehorn motives onto an obviously disturbed and evil man. The only justification seems to be so that the tragedy can be leveraged to push certain political agendas and what have you.

I feel as if a lot of the evil fucking tragedies that are committed in the world, particularly in America, are never properly addressed or attempted to be quelled because society tends to use "whataboutism" to use these incidents as vehicles to unite societies efforts to combat unrelated problems.

The Salon Shooting:
For this particular incident, this shoot has a history of mental illness when it comes to his sex addiction. He check himself into a mental hospital last year to try and seek help. A lot of the mental issues he faced that led to this shooting (if his own testimony is to be taken at face value) was because he couldn't receive the proper help he needed. I would beg to hypothesized, that the negative stigmas associated w/ sex addiction, especially if he comes from a religious family may have driven him over the edge.

Dude is going to be institutionalized/imprisoned for the rest of his life as he should be. But, I feel as if society will take this tragedy and use it to further the divide between left/right, and continue talking about "race politics" when they should be looking into improving the mental health resources available to impoverished americans who probably can't afford it.

It somewhat appears to me as if a great deal of people simple WANT him to be racist. They DESIRE that the motivation for this tragedy be tied to Race Politics, so that they have something "relatable" to yell at - so they have something they can share personal experience of, and campaign/rally against.

Conclusion:
I understand the feeling of wanting to get personally involved, but ignoring the actual issue at hand just so that somebody can make the tragedy "about themselves" really just rubs me the wrong way.

I really think that the true root of these problems should be identified, tackled, and solved...no matter how "off the wall" or unrelatable they may be. All the tragedies in the world isn't rooted in some form of solidarity amongst evil souls - its a nuanced issue. That nuance should be respected, if it isn't, then nothing can ever be fix'ed. Society will continue to devolve.

The poll of the day is a perfect example of "poor charisma" among a portion of the GameFaqs userbase. If you absolutely cannot engage with somebody, or you are prone to judge them as beneath you due to their grammar...you probably have poor charisma. People who lack actual interpersonal skill, especially verbal skills, tend to over compensate with their written skills. Just don't be "that guy" who gets all judgemental over people saying "your" instead of "you're" - you may think that being critical of such a thing is a positive personality trait, but it really isn't. It will only help distant you from others.

I remember in that depressing thread where CE revealed that there are over 200 virgins over the age of the 30, that a common reason given was that many were devoid of charisma. So this is the purpose of this poll.

I have noticed as GameFaqs has been dying, and the more extroverted users have been migrating towards reddit, that as a whole these boards have become somewhat stale, and vaguely humoreless. With many users simply taking themselves too damn seriously. I wonder if a lack of charisma has something to do with that.

never been especially interested in sports or exercise. the weight is due to having a low appetite and isn't really easy to fix unless i basically force myself to eat. its been an issue my whole life.

Basically this, in my prime when I was in the military, 250-275 until I was in my mid 30's. Now with tendinosis in my shoulder i'm limited, but I still run to keep in shape but really can't lift much beyond a 50lb bag of chicken feed nowadays.

Farmboy strength is practical strength. Keep your head up man...it counts!

I don't think i've done a bench press in my entire life. I imagine i couldn't do much more than the bar, given 45 lbs is over a third of my weight and i'm not very strong.

I do dumbell bench, so I'm limited by my ability to get into position. It's not easy to convert. So I'm moving 180lbs for reps which would translate to like 210-250 max i guess.

I start at 80lbs dumbbells, then move my way up to 120lbs.

You seem to indicate that you rep 90lbs dumbbells for reps of ___?

If those reps are between 6-10, then that probably equates to a 315lb bench at minimum.
