Since DIO's power is time stop, it means whenever Polnareff started going up the stairs, DIO stopped time, picked him up, and then moved him back down to the bottom. For no reason. lol He did have a reason. DIO told Polnareff to go down the stairs if he wanted to join him, then made him think he'd gone down the stairs subconsciously. Didn't the fight literally start with Dio showing off that The World is stronger and faster than Star Platinum, and that Jotaro being a sassy little shit is the only reason Dio wanted to keep testing their Stands' similarities? They did the punch flurry after he killed Joseph, and then DIO got to work on killing jotaro without further fuss. The reason he didn't get to it was because:Kircheis posted... Jotaro had to rely on trickery to prolong the fightand DIO wanted to be absolutely sure that he was able to kill of jotaro, firstly by making sure jotaro couldn't move in stopped time and afterwards trying to make 100% sure passed out Jotaro was actually dead --- Stand Proud |

Yeah for real, I'm honestly not a big fan of Dio as a villain in Part 3. One of the biggest problems with making a villain too powerful is that you then have to figure out how the protagonist will actually beat said villain, which leads to people like Dio being dum-dums and playing with their food instead of just mercing the protagonist and calling it a day. I felt like that was done well here. He absolutely tried to off Jotaro as soon as possible, and only went into playing with his food mode after snacking on Joestar blood, which made him somewhat loopy.
