I think it's cool in concept. The open world is what gen 8 should have been. And I know it's still early in development, but it looks really rough. Some of the animations look absolutely awful. And the art style needs some work. The open world still doesn't look right. Also the idea it's coming in a year is a bit worrying. It looks like it needs more time to bake than one year.

The chibi plastic style, while it harkens back to older Pokemon games, I don't think looks particularly good here. It looks like they saw Link's Awakening Switch, and said "Me too!" but didn't put any effort into it. Everything looks too... simple? Like nothing really looks like it utilizes the style well at all. Thing don't look like they have weight to them. They look low rez and low poly not to look interesting, but because it's easy to produce. It doesn't look like it's pushing the hardware, it looks like it belongs on WiiWare. Or 3DS. Then you enter a battle, and it's a completely different artstyle that clashes with the overworld in a really noticeable way. Like even more so than how ORAS clashed. It all just seems lazy because they know people will buy anything with Pokemon on the cover.

That and I thought for sure they would build on the foundations of Gen 8. Which it doesn't look like it does at all. Say what you will about Gen 8, it has TONS of problems. But it also brought a lot of really nice QoL changes and features that I actually really love. And, honestly, while I don't like V/GMax, I was looking forward to seeing new forms, and seeing old routes re-imagined. It doesn't look at all that anything will be different from the old routes, or that D/GMax are even going to be in the game. Does that mean we can't move Pokemon between SwSh and BDSP? Or maybe just can't move over pokemon with the DMAx trait? That remains to be seen. Really, just for better and for worse, it looks like Diamond and Pearl, which is a generation I wasn't fond of when it was new, just re-released with ever so slightly improved graphics, but still looks shockingly dated for the platform and medium. Just at the end of the day, of all the Pokemon remakes, this looks like the laziest one yet.

Yes but Link's Awakening Switch is actually a beautiful looking game. Whereas this looks like a WiiWare game.

I was expecting it to be bad, but hoo boy was that BAD. That might have actually killed my interest in Pokemon for good. Doesn't matter how low quality or low effort it is, Pokemon Company will sink lower. It looks like the most mismanaged thing in the world from the outside, but on the inside, Pokemon is a billion dollar franchise. Why fix what in their eyes isn't broken? Everyone will buy it anyway. Until people stop buying this shit, Pokemon is just going to get worse and worse.

I wish GameFreak would just take a step back, and reevaluate. Okay even if it means we don't get another Pokemon game for like 5 or 6 years. Fine. I would rather they take the time to make an amazing game, than just consistently and constantly lower the bar and release utter crap.

Also, if DPP remakes are coming, I'm hesitant to say they'll be good. I'll be honest, Diamond turned me off of the series when it released. Yes, really. Everyone loves gen 4, and I thought Diamond was just bad. Never played Platinum. But besides that, it'll also be built off of Sword/Shield, and were made during coronavirus. And to go along with that, the wild area. Can't have it in the middle because of mount coronet. So instead of making a true open world game, like, you know, everyone else has been doing for decades, they're just going to fuck around and have 2 completely separate wild areas on either side of the mountain, calling it now. Everyone is expecting DPP remakes to be some amazing earth-shattering thing for some fucking reason, and they're just going to continue to fuck around because why put effort into the biggest media franchise in history if everyone will just buy it anyway? I love Pokemon, but it has always been of questionable quality.

Saturday is Pokemon's 25th anniversary, there's always a Pokemon Direct for Pokemon Day. They are for sure going to talk about Snap 2, Unite, probably Detective Pikachu 2, maybe a new movie, maybe TCG stuff. But the big thing is most likely going to be a big flagship game release in November. My money is on straight Diamond/Pearl remakes on Switch, but some people think it's going to be Let's Go DPP remakes, or even Let's Go GSC remakes. I think Gen 9 is coming next year at the earliest. Maybe even in 2023 because of Covid.

Or the big announcement is the sequel to Pokemon Smile, Pokemon Bed. It teaches little kids how to make their beds.

Its a much smaller, shorter experience than Odyssey. It plays more similarly to 3D World and Sunshine. But I think its in a modified Odyssey engine. Its strange that it was attached to the 3D World rerelease, and not Odyssey DLC.

I know it's several years old now but I only just found out about it. Anyway! It's cool to see Godzilla go back to its horror roots, and things get really weird and gross. And the scariest part of the movie is the ending when he's laying there dying and he turns to the camera and for the first time in 60 years he speaks and says "Godzilla died by committee, so Gozilla will become a committee" leaving the audience scared and confused by what he meant by that.

All joking aside the ending is bizarre, and apparently they were going to lean even more into that direction originally, Godzilla was going to keep evolving and mutating and become a hivemind and take over the universe. Weird. But yeah if you want to watch a more horror movie style Godzilla, and don't mind subs or dubs, and for whatever reason are crazy and didn't like the 2014 American Godzilla, watch Shin Godzilla, it's weird, it's scary, it's well made, and it doesn't disappoint.

I wouldn't say FFXIV demands you to be as efficient as possible. It's pretty laid back. And completing your weeklies outside of savage raiding isn't all that time consuming or difficult. The game, and the community, encourage new players to go at their own pace. Especially right now where all the Eden Savage raids are out, and there's over a half a year until Endwalker launches. And when that happens, it's not like there's going to be any level 90 endgame content for a few weeks anyway to give people time to play through the MSQ.

Not to mention it's just not a good game. Everyone is all "oh they changed the controls it will be fine" No, that's like putting a bandaid on a detached limb. The game's problems are baked into everything in that game, I can't help but think that using the stick to swing the sword won't be that fun. And they didn't even mention what they're doing about Fi and all the other intrusive dialogue that kills the pacing.

It was the second Zelda game I played, I thought it was fine.

It's not the series formula that was the problem. it's the wonky controls and Fi stopping the game every 5 seconds to tell you things you already know.
