Not sure if I got the right impression from your post but to clarify just in case: NFTs is not a cryptocurrency, it is a crypto concept and there's multiple coins that support them and multiple places to buy them. I don't fully understand what it is except that it's a way to create and authenticate digital art. It could be a 3D image of a sculptor, a digital trading card, a movie (Kevin Smith has talked about putting a movie on an NFT and auctioning it), etc. I think it's kind of sky's the limit depending on the artist. You can do augmented reality, art you can interact with, etc. There are also a lot of rumors for what companies like ECOMI might be creating in secret such as an NFT universe of some kind. Maybe virtual reality? --- |

AndyKnow 04/18/21 2:36:47 AM #17 | I personally used this first video below to learn how to buy OMI on Bitforex. It's a bit convoluted, because you first have to buy Bitcoin (unless you already have Bitcoin), transfer it to Bitforex's Spot site. Once there, you sell the Bitcoin for USDT, and you use that USDT to buy OMI. It was confusing at first, but it's really not that bad after you do it once. Getting verified will take a while. Maybe 1-2 hours. https://youtu.be/GDx3YFuNtho Here's an alternative video if you want another explanation: https://youtu.be/UukGz9jpDvs These obscure coins aren't going to be on Robinhood or Coinbase. Thus, there is some risk, and be careful which of these sites you use. The advantage of going through this big hassle is you can get in before these coins ever get to the bigger exchanges (if they get there at all). Thus, for example, you can buy coins for less than a cent each. Sometimes, these sites are the only options for certain coins. --- |
Topic | Judge REJECTS Ghislaine Maxwell's motion to dismiss sex crime indictment! |
AndyKnow 04/18/21 2:05:02 AM #1 | https://www.reuters.com/business/legal/us-judge-rejects-ghislaine-maxwell-bid-dismiss-indictment-2021-04-16/ A U.S. judge on Friday rejected Ghislaine Maxwell's bid to dismiss the original indictment accusing the British socialite of aiding the financier Jeffrey Epstein's sexual abuse of girls. U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan rejected Maxwell's arguments that she could not get a fair trial because of a drumbeat of negative media publicity, or was being scapegoated because Epstein was dead. "The court will not dismiss the indictment on Maxwell's bare assertion that numerous witnesses are engaged in a perjurious conspiracy against her," Nathan wrote in a 34-page decision. "And the court will take all appropriate steps to ensure that the pretrial publicity in this case does not compromise Maxwell's right to a fair and impartial jury." Nathan nonetheless agreed to Maxwell's request to sever two perjury charges, which would be tried separately. Lawyers for Maxwell did not immediately respond to requests for comment. A spokesman for U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss in Manhattan declined to comment. Nathan's decision covers the first six of the eight criminal counts Maxwell faces, to which she has pleaded not guilty. They concern accusations that Maxwell, 59, helped Epstein recruit and groom three girls for him to sexually abuse from 1994 to 1997, and lied under oath about her role in depositions taken in 2016 for a separate civil lawsuit. She is to be arraigned on April 23 on sex trafficking charges that she groomed and paid a fourth girl to provide nude massages to Epstein and engage in sex acts with him from 2001 to 2004, and recruited others to offer erotic massages. Epstein killed himself in a Manhattan jail in August 2019 after being arrested on sex trafficking charges. Maxwell has been jailed in Brooklyn since her arrest last July, and faces up to 80 years in prison if convicted. She is seeking a 90-day or longer delay in her scheduled July 12 trial, saying prosecutors' adding the sex trafficking charges on March 29 vastly expanded the case and would make going forward as scheduled "a miscarriage of justice." NOT TOO LATE Nathan's decision addressed 12 motions from Maxwell early this year to dismiss or narrow the criminal case. These included arguments that Epstein's 2007 nonprosecution agreement covered Maxwell, and that her Manhattan-based prosecutors obtained the indictment too late. read more Nathan agreed with the prosecutors that Epstein's agreement with their Miami counterparts did not bind them or cover the original indictment, and that the charges were timely under a 2003 law concerning sexual abuse of minors. The judge also said Maxwell's claim that the suburban White Plains, New York, grand jury that indicted her last June lacked diversity because it had too few Blacks and Hispanics was moot, because a Manhattan grand jury returned the March 29 indictment... ...Nathan, however, said severing the perjury charges was needed to avoid admitting "evidence of other acts likely to be unduly prejudicial," and forcing Maxwell's lawyers to disqualify themselves because they were involved in the earlier civil case. In exchange for immunity under his nonprosecution agreement, Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to Florida state prostitution charges and served just 13 months in jail. The arrangement is now widely considered too lenient. https://i.imgur.com/tCUqN3V.png --- |

Yes, I don't know if/when this will ever blow up, but the difference is NFTs are building an entire system that people can and will probably use in the very near future. Think of how huge Pokemon Go is. Imagine Pokemon Go if it's put on a blockchain. It all depends on the licensing deals, and the head of licensing for ECOMI is responsible for securing licensing for stuff like Cabbage Patch Kids, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pokemon, and a bunch more. They've said that they already have 100 licensing deals to announce, but they cannot do so yet due to NDAs. This is going to go up and dip hard in the short term, probably, but it has the potential to go to the moon if/when they get out of beta phase and get this into the hands of the mainstream via augmented reality. --- |

AndyKnow 04/18/21 1:22:41 AM #1 | I'm not a financial expert, and I've only been investing in crypto since March 30, 2021. Only invest what you can afford to lose. In other words, don't spend rent money or bill money on investing. Otherwise, you are very susceptible to panic selling if your investment starts to tank in the short term. As the saying goes, time in the market is better than timing the market. But if you want to try to day trade, do so at your own risk given how volatile cryptos are. Doge and Bitcoin get a lot of the headlines these days, NFTs are starting to blow up. I've heard Kevin Smith, Mark Cuban, and more all pushing it. One reason to pay attention to NFT's is ECOMI's head of licensing is this man: https://dailyhodl.com/2021/04/04/heres-the-most-underrated-new-nft-gem-according-to-crypto-trader-ben-armstrong/ ...OMI is the native token for NFT collectibles platform VeVe, which has locked in impressive partnerships with some big-name brands, including Warner Bros., Capcom, and DC. Armstrong notes that Ecomis global head of licensing Alfred R. Kahn is a titan of the licensing Industry, able to gain the rights to coveted digital merchandise. Kahns properties are responsible for more than $25 billion in retail revenue. Kahn was the founder chairman and CEO of 4Kids Entertainment from 1991 until 2011. He is recognized as an industry leader and licensing behemoth. His company 4kids entertainment was responsible for some of the biggest names including Pokemon, YuGiOh, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Cabbage Patch Kids, and of course ol Polly Pockets. Kahn also helped with branding and licensing of Nintendo, Mario Bros, Zelda, Donkey Kong, James Bond, and World Wrestling Federation. Armstrong says that while Ecomi hasnt announced a formal partnership with those brands as of yet, with Kahn in charge of licensing, its likely not that far away.... Here are some examples of what artists can do with NFTs: https://youtu.be/4TJhLoFqd0U (click to expand) Imagine if/when ECOMI gets the licensing for NFTs for stuff like Pokemon. If you want a deeper dive on how this whole NFT ecosystem works, this guy has a brilliant breakdown: https://youtu.be/hCSek0wKgDM --- |
