The idea when DC was created was that no one would permanently live there. The politician's that are voted would live there while running the country and then leave to their home state. This of course isn't what happened, and it's now got more permanent residents than several US states.

Which is a stupid point, because that's just describing what a character arc is; a character changing based on the events in the narrative.

No, his complaint was that Squall changes out of nowhere unless you choose the dialogue options that have him warm up. The issues are that the friendly "out of character" choices that warm him up, are just that choices you make. It'd be fine if their were difference to the story based on your choices, if Squall warms up if you choose the options for him to warm up, or stays cold if your choose the options that are cold. But the game doesn't do that he ultimately warms up and the only difference your choices make are how out of nothing it is.

Sinn Fin was supposed to be a formal alternative to the IRA, I think. If any Irish or British people can clarify these statements, I don't know, I'm just an Irish-American who read a book about it.

The British governments position is that the founders of Sinn Fin and leaders (until the mid-2000s at least, I can't find more recent statements) were closely linked to the IRA, with several leaders of both being the same people. Sinn Fin claims that it's completely untrue, and the IRA being a terrorist organization never said anything on the matter as far as I know.
