Which part of the argument is disingenuous? And again you have maybe hundreds of tv shows competing vs hundreds of thousands of streams. Also where are you pulling this 2.4 million stat from?

That's almost 20x what you mentioned and thats what should be compared with traditional sports viewership. That means league has gotten to almost half the viewership of the super bowl. Conversely, the world series had a record low 9.6 million views in 2020 being obliterated in viewership. Of course, the world cup still decimates everything so far at just over 1 billion concurrent viewers worldwide.

Streaming has not yet caught up to traditional tv in viewership but it's largely because of old people. The average 65+ watches more than 6 hours of tv per day. The average 12-17 doesn't even watch 1 hour average per day and the numbers rise through each age group. It's only a matter of time.

And the majority of this data and analysis comes from neilsen, aka the tv ratings people.

And if you really wanna see how traditional tv is dying, it's better to look at youtube with over 1 billion hours watched per day and more time watched in the 18-34 on youtube mobile alone than the same demographic watches tv.

This makes no sense. If anything, total hours viewed is the simplest most direct metric. Average per person has a lot of caveats. Does it include people who don't own tvs? Is it considering multiple people per household using the same tv?

You can look at any metrics you want and see that cable tv is going down and quickly while streaming is going up even more quickly.

Would be nice to see larger metrics. There's a lot more streamers in a genre than there are tv shows in a genre. There's also a lot more genres of streams than tv (every game is basically it's own genre).

As far as I can tell from googling marketing reports. Streaming consumption is basically doubling every year reaching a total of 8 billion minutes watched in quarter 4 of last year. Consersely, traditional television viewership is falling super rapidly for people under 34, fairly quickly for 35-50, and basically unchanged or even increasing in people older than that. For the 12-17 and 18-34 demographics, they spend more time using apps on their smartphone per day than watching traditional tv.

So while judgemenl probably just went based on feel, traditional tv is rapidly declining while streaming is rapidly rising.

It's a bit annoying that streaming statistics tend to be in total time viewed, whereas tv stats tended to be in average per person.

Also is max level witch the best anime of all time? So much yuri goodness in the latest episode. I think it's the closest thing to a yuri harem anime that exists. I'm overexaggerating it's quality greatly but woohoo yuri!

I continue to be surprised by how much I like the nagatoro anime. Nagatoro's willingness to take embarrassment and just plow through it is endearing. I'm also surprised that I really wish there were more generic highschool comedy harem anime. I feel like it used to be oversaturated but now we don't actually get very many. Probably my favorite kind of anime to relax to, when I'm not in the mood for iyashikei anyway.

Falling even further behind in the anime season but just caught up on 300 years witch. I wish every season had something like this. Relaxed comedy that's basically a light yuri harem. It's not especially good, but it doesn't need to be.

Also watched the latest episode of to your eternity. Despite being a sad episode, it didn't hit nearly as hard as the first episode. It actually reminds me of nier replicant that I'm playing now in that the default outcome is the saddest one, but that just makes you not emotionally invest because you know it's coming. There's no shock in the sadness so it ends up just making me feel distanced from it.

Yeah I was vaguely aware of that, but I still wish they'd do it for remasters and the like. Idk, most people would probably dislike it but it seems like a nice way to keep the same old story fresh.

I played like half of xenogears a few years back. It was ok. Probably would have been amazing to me when it was new but I kinda feel like it's an inferior prototype of xenoblade X now.

Been falling a bit behind on my anime again because I got nier replicant. I forgot how absurdly grindy nier is for basically no reason. I played part 1 back when it was just "nier" on the 360 but this time I intend to 100% it.

The difference between geshtalt and replicant is so weird. I kinda wish more games would do that for enhanced versions. It's basically the same exact game but the main character is swapped out for a younger one. Imagine if FF12 zodiac age just completely replaced vaan with an actually good character.

Fell a little behind in my anime. I'm still surprised blue reflection ray is rated so low. My only real complaint is the occasional battles are pretty lame (which is odd for something based on a game) but everything else is pretty good I feel like.

Also caught up on nagatoro and it's a lot better than I initially thought.

Saint continues to be good.

Combatant is still solid despite it's bad first episode.

86 and your eternity continue to be great although eternity definitely had a stronger first episode than the follow ups but it's still quite good. In 86 I'm sad we haven't gotten anymore battle scenes, the one in episode 2 was awesome so I'm hoping they bust out another soon.

Despite my initial disdain, it's quite a strong season. This is looking to be the strongest year for anime in recent memory.

I found that I didnt really enjoy DS s2 as much because the element of discovery was gone.
They were just like "we made this thing off-screen", its cool right? I loved them going out and finding the materials and learning how to build stuff in the 1st season.

I felt the same way but I was invested in the characters and it was still fun for me to watch.

Started watching Vivy once I learned it was not a musical idol show and is in fact a sci-fi action show. It's pretty good. Vivy visually reminds me of suisei and they are both good at singing, maybe suisei was an AI this whole time.

However, it is kind of hard to overlook some of the dumb parts of the premise. Like the single mission concept for AI is just...no. Then matsumoto's plan clearly ignores the cause of the war in the first place. The individual inciting incidents are obviously unimportant and will just be replaced by other ones.

Also jesus why is there no surveilance for the first ever autonomous AI? Wouldn't that be like a multinational science project monitored closely at all times? Meanwhile she is just chillin at an amusement park. How did the bomb ever end up in the trash can if even non security AI can see it from like 100 meters away through objects? Basically, how the hell does everyone have so much privacy?

Oh well, I try to look past these things as best I can.

For switch games, xenoblade games are worth the money IMO, monster hunter rise and gu are great, 3 houses is ok, astral chain is fine, smash is smash, mario kart 8 is fun.

Watched episodes 2 and 3 of megalo box and the newest episode of full dive rpg. Megalo box S2 continues to be pretty good although i feel like the first episode was the best. Full dive continues to skirt the line of watchable. This episode especially got annoying with main guy continually being surprised about their attention to realism. Like bro, it's episode 3, you already know the game is like this.

Wow, watched the first episode of nomad (season 2 of megalo box). I didn't really like the first season all that much so I was slow to try this one. The first episode was amazing IMO. I'm a lot more invested here. I only hope it doesn't swap to being super up beat and happy in a few episodes.

Combatants is really growing on me. The first episode was pretty trash but after everything got set up it's been a lot better. I like how Alice uses the awful nicknames Six comes up with. The konosuba author is really good at making that sort of "you suck but so do I and we are friends" kind of dynamic that is really fun to watch. Other authors need to steal that.

Just watched both episodes of 86. It's really good so far. The second episode had some actual combat in it and it was pretty awesome. That's 2 shows today that surprised me. A lot more excited about this season now.

Wow...fumetsu no anata e had a really strong first episode. Got my eyes watering a bit there. After a few disappointments this season, it's nice to get a pleasant surprise. Not sure if the rest of the series is going to be as strong but I guess I'll find out.

The only real complaint I have with ryza (and presumably earlier titles but I haven't played them) is that even on hard the battle difficulty is way too low to necessitate really abusing the alchemy system. The games are a ton of fun though.

Watched episode 1 of slime slice of life. It's pretty much exactly what you would expect. A fair bit of comedy compared to like an iysashiki but I think that suits it better.

Also watched episode 2 of saints power and I'm kinda surprised how much I like it. It's like the femine version of the OP isekai hero. Instead of having powerful combat abilities, she has powerful cooking, nursing, and cosmetic making abilities but to such a degree that it's sort of hilarious. Also I see the vague hints at a girl being added to sei's harem. Would love another bi harem show like villainess.

Ugh theres a few shows that I don't know what to call.

Childhood friend wins might be the most incel thing I've ever seen. Dude legit is out to get revenge on a girl for...dating someone. That's it. He out here ranting and raving and plotting revenge because she has a boyfriend. He didn't ask her out by the way, he has done literally nothing except talk to her a few times over the course of 2 years, where she was relatively nice to him and thats it. I kinda like childhood friend though. She is thirsty AF and manipulative as hell which is at least kinda funny. No idea why she is after main guy since he is just kind of an annoying jerk but whatever.

Also saw Hige wo Soru, both episodes. I like it but it's clearly ramping up for some love triangle bullshit which I hate. I feel sorta bad for the main guy. I almost feel like he never really had a choice. Like, you can't really just leave some teenager out on the street on a cold night and then if she has nowhere to go and plans to basically whore herself out to strangers for a place to stay you can't really just let that happen and then all of sudden you are housing some runaway teenage girl which is not a good look, all because he didn't want to effectively leave someone to die. Like, if I was in his shoes, I'd probably end up doing the exact same thing and end up ruined over it.

I suspected I would but I quite enjoy max level witch. It's more yuri-ish than I expected which is wonderful. Also I feel like the witch looks a lot like haachama even though they act totally different.

Also watched the first episode of tokyo revengers and it's fine. Needs more time to really start and see what the show is gonna be like.

I can't decide how much I like it yet but it has some yuri vibes to it that are ensuring I will watch at least another episode to find out. Completed Dr Stone S2. It was decent. The bad guys were kinda lame and I think the show was a lot better in season 1 when it was more about turning sticks and rocks into cool science over the course of several episodes. In this one they pretty much already have any materials they need so they just zoom through shit in like 2 seconds.

Since theres nothing good to watch this season yet I've been watching Dr Stone S2 that I didn't watch when it aired. It's still pretty good but I feel like the first season was better. There's much less of a focus on science progression and a lot more focus on the conflict which is decent but just not as good IMO. Still good enough to make me want to keep watching though.

Watched episode 1 of combatants the new anime that is adapting one of konosuba author's previous works. So far I'm pretty disappointed. The pacing was way too fast, the jokes were hit or miss but mostly miss, and none of the characters seem likeable. It's almost hard to believe this is by the same author.

Still, it's just episode 1 that was mostly spent on set up and introduction. Perhaps now that things have been established it'll hit better next time. I really want to give it the benefit of the doubt because of how much I like konosuba. Guess I'll just have to see.

Eh, I feel like watamote has better precedent. It's already had a successful season with moderate pacing so it's not such a gamble. I'd be happy to watch more of that. I enjoyed the first season despite the painful levels of awkwardness but apparently it's end up being yuri or at least yuribait and that sounds fuckin awesome to me.

I finished up horimiya. That final episode was pretty powerful for me. Really felt like saying goodbye to that part of their lives with all the uncertainty and sentimentality that comes with it.

The last half of the show in general though was a bit all over the place. Apparently they adapted 15 volumes (not chapters) into 13 episodes so they just skipped massive chunks of the story. Basically the start of every episode had me wondering if I'd skipped an episode. Definitely a shame given how good it is but it does make me glad they were able to end on such a strong note and give closure to the characters.

I tried to watch the first episode of the new shaman king anime but it's just too awful. Literally upon the first second of the anime I see that old dudes hair and I already know I'm gonna hate it. Tried to give it a fair shot but the main characters look weird and are annoying, the fighting looks super lame especially after the somewhat similar jujutsu kaisen looking so awesome. Unwatchable for me.

I still need to finish horimiya but im more in the mood to watch action. Oh well.

Finished up bottom tier character tomozaki. I liked it more than I expected to. For me it kind of feels like an amateur writer with some talent made it. Like, parts are very cringey and dumb, but theres also some pretty good parts mixed in. It's hard to really call the show good, but I still enjoyed it. As for the actual ending, it kind of felt like the author didn't really know how to wrap things up in that arc so he sort of wasted a decent set up. Oh well. Now only horimiya remains and then this season will be finished.

Finished up jujutsu. I think it's the 2nd best show I watched this season although horimiya is also really good. The fight in this last episode looked awesome. They do a great job with the flow and impact. Hard hits feel hard and fast movement feels fast without any of that disappearing flash step style nonsense.

I have been hardcore fiending MH rise. It's way more fun than I was expecting. Rampage sucks though. The actual combat and movement just feels great. The doggo is awesome. The town music is god tier (I'm a huge sucker for that like...I actually don't know what to call it. Vocal fantasy music?). It's a lot like the OP of jobless reincarnation for a recent example. I love that shit and the village music is a great version of it. The new monsters are all pretty fun so far. Magnamalo is scary as hell to fight, amuldron is like a not miserable to fight najarala, best monsters zinogre and narga are back. I'm having a great time.

Village is too easy though. Hub is a solid MH experience.
