YoukaiSlayer 03/25/21 6:22:14 PM #39 | The anime. I'm not looking for like a ton of depth, but every character is a one note gimmick and it just stops being funny before 12 episodes are up. The only character with even a smidgen of personality beyond their gimmick is the one with the mythril arm. Belt girl just talks about lloyd and nothing else all the time forever. Farmer guy only talks about farming. Punchy girl only talks about "master i will marry you, teach me your ways". Axe guy is like the girl but not trying to marry him. Alka is just trying to get with lloyd. Even the bad guys only ever talk about lloyd. Comparing it to one punch man does one punch man a disservice because those characters actually do have some depth. They consist of at least a little bit more than 1 gag repeated endlessly, even if they do have gags they repeat, like everything dying in one punch. I'm not looking for crazy depth but at least come up with some new jokes here and there. --- I'm ninja (you can't see me) |

Seems the end of the game is literally unfinished and tells you to go kill a monster but then theres just no quest or way to do so until they give us a free update in a month. YoukaiSlayer 03/24/21 5:12:29 AM #22 | Watched the latest slime episode and damn man. It's got me all excited again. This anime has the same appeal as an idle game. Near effortless exponential growth. Yet with this anime, it manages to be engaging. Can't wait till next episode which presumably will be a lot more chill and spend half the time explaining various upgrades everyone gets and the aftermath of this episode. Topic | ff15 any good? it's on sale |
YoukaiSlayer 03/19/21 5:23:24 AM #20 | It's ok. The combat system is pretty weak and easily exploitable. The skill tree system is poorly balanced with some borderline useless skills costing 20x more than other skills and your skill point earning does not increase as the game goes on. If you have the durandal, the most effective battle strategy is to just spam warp strike with it which makes fights a lot less interesting. There is a lot of just wasted time sprinkled in everywhere. Annoying loading screens. Long animations to get in and out of the car. More screens than there should be. Story is pretty weak but the main characters and their interactions are pretty decent. The game does a pretty good job of making it feel like 4 friends going on a road trip in southwestern america. The thing is, thats not what I want from a fantasy game. Southwestern america is boring as shit. --- I'm ninja (you can't see me) |

YoukaiSlayer 03/14/21 12:35:15 PM #18 | Dodging does actually work pretty well, just not for every attack. It's the primary way to get openings to deal health damage though. In an ideal situation you dodge in the first half or so of the fight and counter to deal hp damage and then deflect and attack their guard in the 2nd half to raise and break their posture. A lot of times you need to deflect the combo opener and dodge a follow up though and obviously some enemies are more about deflecting and some more about dodging. --- I'm ninja (you can't see me) |

YoukaiSlayer 03/13/21 11:24:31 PM #4 | On the standard difficulty (you can't choose to make it harder until you beat the game once) there is very little punishment for hitting block at the wrong time. So you can kinda just mash block and you will end up deflecting 70% or so of all attacks and usually not be punished for the 30% you only block. Completely defeats the purpose of combat which is to learn moves and time your blocks but it works. After you beat the game, you unlock the option to give back kuro's charm in the beginning that fixes this by making you take massive chip damage if you only block instead of deflect. --- I'm ninja (you can't see me) |

Topic | Is loosening the restrictions before vaccine rollout a good idea? |
YoukaiSlayer 03/13/21 3:50:36 PM #5 | Absolutely not. If anything we should tighten restrictions in the next probably 3 months to really try and squash covid. Mixing social distancing with a high amount of vaccinations would seriously knock down case numbers hopefully to a point where we never need to lock down again. The goal is to get rid of covid or at least knock it down to a level where we can deal with it just from contact tracing, not to maintain an "acceptable" level of people dying from it that doesn't quite overwhelm hospitals. --- I'm ninja (you can't see me) |
Topic | I'm going to have surgery in a few days. |
YoukaiSlayer 03/13/21 2:59:56 PM #51 | Yeah. I'm trying to look at the bright side. Maybe if the swelling is fixed, it'll make my digestion much better and maybe the fix isn't that difficult. I just really don't know what it is. It's totally painless and it swells up in my upper abdominal area just slightly off center to the right side of my body. It swell up big and hard for like 5 seconds, then shrinks back down. Even pushing on it when it's hard and swollen doesn't hurt. It's shape doesn't match with my ab muscles so I don't think it's a muscle spasm. It's shape is like a narrow egg. The doctors seemed pretty convinced it's not a hernia from feeling the area and listening with a stethoscope. Before the surgery it was happening like every 5 minutes or so and often times when it'd get smaller I'd hear a spurting sound from the same area and it'd feel kind of hot in the area. So like, it FEELS like a blockage in something where it swells up when something tries to come through the area, then eventually the pressure is enough and it makes it past the blockage where it shrinks back down. My hope and what the surgeon said may be the case was that it was my gallbladder being blocked by one of the stones. I guess it could be the common bile duct instead which is my hope. That'd be easy to fix with an endoscopic procedure and not require surgery most likely. It could also be a partial intestinal obstruction but I'm not really sure from what. Maybe a gallstone that got in there or something. Perhaps some sort of malfunction of a sphincter in there that doesn't open in time but I feel like the hard area is too hard for that to make sense. The hard area is also too small to be my entire pancreas but maybe some part of it or something. Couldn't find anybody on google with a similar issue. I also feel my heartbeat really powerfully from that area sometimes, as if the artery is being pressed on. Hopefully monday I'll feel good enough to go in and get an ultrasound or abdominal CT or something. Just like with the surgery, it's possible I'll be much better if they figure out what it is and fix it. In actually good news though my weight has gone up a bit. Lowest was 115.2 after the surgery and at my lowest point today it was 116.8. Not huge but it's been going up a bit each day. --- I'm ninja (you can't see me) |
Topic | I'm going to have surgery in a few days. |
YoukaiSlayer 03/13/21 1:45:04 PM #48 | Sigh. The weird swelling that prompted me to get surgery has returned. Even though I mentioned it to 3 doctors including the surgeon, they all thought I didn't need a scan and just get the gallbladder surgery, "it really needs to come out". Whelp, it's still fucking there so it clearly was not the gallbladder. Seems like something that would have really benefited from me getting a god damn scan before the surgery like I mentioned. Considering they also forgot to get a liver biopsy and also didn't give me a bile duct scan during the surgery like they said they would because they were worried about me having a reaction, I'm pretty pissed. If I end up needing another surgery right after this in the exact same area, I'm gonna be beyond upset. --- I'm ninja (you can't see me) |

YoukaiSlayer 03/12/21 4:36:15 PM #47 | Yeah as much as I'm feeling down about it, it really is too soon to be completely sure. Today the pain and movement is definitely better. The heat stuff didn't last too long yesterday. Got a small bump with a white tip that kinda looks like a pimple or something right by one of my incisions today. I think it's a suture granuloma and thus no cause for concern but I guess I'll keep a close eye on it. --- I'm ninja (you can't see me) |

YoukaiSlayer 03/11/21 7:47:33 PM #45 | Recovery has not been fun. Got lots of diarrhea and nausea. The gas pains are either non existent or terrible. Every time I get up I feel like all my organs flip upside down. Also having a lot of my heat symptoms and it's just so miserable. It feels so hot that it's sorta cold. Presumably my body is having trouble with the extra bile acid or something. I don't know. I'm too hot to think. My incisions seem fine as far as I can tell and they don't really hurt on the surface. I feel like all my symptoms from before the surgery are the same and I just also have the recovery to deal with. It's too early to be sure of anything but I'm feeling a bit depressed. --- I'm ninja (you can't see me) |

YoukaiSlayer 03/10/21 7:31:41 PM #96 | I mean...you can kinda just mash A through every pokemon game even if they have been making it easier and easier. Would be cool if they'd make a challenging single player once. I think the main issue is that everything that gives depth to pokemon fights is meant for a single trainer vs a single trainer but the single player is always endurance so sweeping is just always going to be the only strategy. --- I'm ninja (you can't see me) |

Such a fun fight and the challenge I did was a bit much by that point in the game (no upgrades of any kind, didn't even get mikiri) so I was at it for like 12 hours before I won. --- I'm ninja (you can't see me) |
Topic | I'm going to have surgery in a few days. |
YoukaiSlayer 03/09/21 7:30:40 PM #41 | Alright. I had a nice nap and feel much more awake although it might be that I'm not taking the benadryl/pain meds. My pain seems mostly fine if I'm not moving around or taking really deep breaths. They said the incisions looked good before I left and I've been passing gas which is good. I haven't noticed the swelling lump thing so hopefully that was indeed my gallbladder. They said my gallbladder had 2 large stones in and there a lot of adhesions on the outside of it against the fat area nearby indicating it had been badly enflamed many times. They forgot to do my liver biopsy which is annoying but apparently visually it looked "beautiful" but that doesn't exactly tell me if my copper is high. They also decided not to the scan of the bile duct because they were worried about me having a reaction which is a bummer because I suspect mine needs to be cleaned out. I had gallbladder related problems before I ever had a stone so it's like I had either microstones or sludge. Oh well, guess I'll have to look into that some other time. Beforehand they almost canceled the surgery because of my AAI (a type of neck instability). Had to grab one of the neurosurgeons to look at my scan and ok me to be intubated. My instability isn't forward to back though, it's side to side or with twisting so there was no problems for this. But yeah, I was already panicking waiting to be taken to the OR and then they come in saying they can't do it cause of my condition which I've brought up like a dozen times in other appointments but suddenly now its an issue. Frustrating. I'm always sort of amazed whenever they put you under how fast they do it. They go from asking if you are comfy to being like "and this will put you to sleep in 3 seconds" as they put it in your IV and I'm like "WHAT? give time to mentally pre-...." cause that could be the last 3 seconds of your life. Didn't seem to have any major problems with waking up too soon at least that I remember. I came to pretty slowly in the recovery area and then they quickly brought me to my room on the 8th floor. Nicest hopsital room I've been in. Quite spacious, big tv, decent sized bathroom, relatively quiet compared to the other rooms I've been in. I do wonder if something might have gone wrong in the operation though because it took more than twice as long as I expected. Should have been from about 11:15 to 12 but it actually took till almost 1. Afterwards they just put me on toridol and tylenol with benadryl to hopefully temper my reactions to them. It seems like it might have worked which is a great discovery if so. However I'm not sure the pain meds did much but it's fine, I have a pretty high pain tolerance. In addition to my normal rice they had me try some other foods and it sort of went well but not that well. At first I had a breadroll with some garlic butter on it. I didn't have my normal reactions but later I felt really nauseous and shaky. I burped a few times and it was very garlic flavored. Next I had a bit of plain turkey sandwich. This didn't trigger much issue at first but I felt a little off with my normal issues after about 45 minutes so I didn't eat anymore. Then this morning I had some egg. Basically the same as the breadroll but not as bad (although I also didn't eat as much). For now I'm gonna wait a few days till the pain goes mostly away and I have my energy back and am not on any meds before I try new foods again. I feel like the pain from the incisions is pretty mild at this point other than the one they actually removed the gallbladder through so it's mostly gas pain which burping and farting out fairly often. With any luck by tomorrow or the next day I'll pretty ok. Planning to just nap and most of the day away. --- I'm ninja (you can't see me) |

I'm a little grateful my surgery got moved back another 30 minutes so it's now at 10:15 although I gotta be there by 8:15. I've got a million tiny worries but I think overall I'm handling it pretty well. Trying to sleep and stay asleep will probably be the big test.
