we always make pancakes with just buttermilk, flour, egg, vanilla, etc not the boxes of batter.

They are quite yummy. I just prefer waffles.

I've never really been into french toast...I like the idea of them, especially fancy ones at brunch places look interesting. But then if I ever see those, I'm out at a nice place and I'm usually more interested in getting something like eggs benedict, smoked salmon something, savory crepes, a croque monsieur, etc.

I never order out waffles (but I'll steal a bite if my bf orders chicken and waffles), pancakes, or french toast and I never make french toast for myself. I usually prefer savory breakfasts so I rarely make pancakes or waffles even.

that's interesting i wanted to work at google. What qualifications were required for the job? you mind me asking how much it paid?

I'm a senior software developer, Bachelors of Computer Science and 6 years job experience out of college.

Here's the Google average for my position. TC (total compensation) ~$353k.
  • $191k base salary
  • $124k stock (which typically increases in value over time as stock goes up)
  • $38k bonus
https://www.levels.fyi/company/Google/salaries/Software-Engineer/L5/ San-Francisco-Bay-Area/

My current position is TC ~$287k? or ???
  • $187k base salary (so similar here)
  • $10k bonus (smaller)
  • stock is trickier since it is private. My offer was $60k/year, then valuation increased that to $90k/year, refreshers try to keep it around there. But depending on an IPO (which we don't know when/if that will happen), that could even double or triple or go down (I'm hopeful though). So this is the biggest variance with Google. Also I don't actually have this money until a liquidation event.

overall though I just didn't really get a good vibe from their on campus interview, wasn't interested in the teams I was being paired with, and I didn't want to do the commute from SF to Mountain View even with their buses. Was more interested in opportunities where I currently am.

(edit: lol I guess gamefaqs doesn't have the female emoji supported)

We moved our code over to use allowlist/exceptionlist, and primary/replica instead of some places we had master/replica.

Not a big deal.

I don't really think that makes much of an impact on anything, but we also did this when BLM was very prominent along with education seminars (with professional third parties trained to lead them), a bunch of donation and donation matching, and encouraging people to take time off to protest if they wanted to. So there was that too.

Precovid I got 15k each work day (I would walk to work which is ~50 minutes one way on top of regular walking around), then I would do spin class on top of that 4-6 days a week. Weekends were more variable depending on if I went out or stayed in.

Barely anything now. Though I'll often go on walks that are ~4.5k, it's not super consistent.

Can't wait to get vaccinated and start going to spin classes again at least.

Alcohol withdrawals can literally be killer too it's not a joke. So if/when he does decide to go clean, he will likely spend a few days in bed feeling like he's dying, with literal visual hallucinations.

It should be done with medical supervision. They'll prescribe benzos to wean you off without dying.

For people who can't get or refuse medical help, tapering is a thing to look into but requires a lot of discipline.

Meanwhile the risk for blood clots on birth control is 0.3-1% but no one seems to care about that
(being pregnant is much riskier, likewise having COVID is riskier too, but guys expect women to be on birth control without giving a shit about blood clot risk like we see with all this vaxx concern here)

red and green chile and sopapillas my favorites
waaaat that sounds amazing, I've only had the dessert kind with cinnamon sugar and honey

Sopapillas in New Mexican cuisine are pillow-shaped fried pastry dough, distinct from Latin American variations. Similar to Native American frybread, they are typically served as a bread, and used to mop up sauces, scoop up tidbits, or are shredded into stews. It's been called "the doughnut of the Southwest", while other authors have said "this non-yeasted, simply flavored bread is definitely not a donut, but it's not really a fritter either".

In northern New Mexico, they are often filled with savory ingredients such as ground beef or chicken, covered with chile and cheese, and served with lettuce and tomato as an entree, but such "stuffed sopaipillas" are a relatively new innovation and are still fairly unknown in the southern part of the state. They are sometimes eaten as a dessert, drizzled with honey or anise syrup. but are often eaten this same way during the meal itself as New Mexican cuisine tends to be very spicy and sweet syrups reduce the sensations of heat.

Sopapillas in Tex-Mex cuisine are a puffed pastry, but otherwise similar to New Mexican-style sopapillas, except that they are always served as a dessert item, coated with cinnamon sugar and served with honey. Many Tex-Mex restaurants in Texas and Oklahoma will serve dessert sopapillas as part of the complimentary "set-up": chips and salsa served before the meal, along with sometimes queso sauce, pickled vegetables and flour tortillas and sopapillas served at the end of the meal.

Sopaipilla and strudel were together designated as Texas' state pastries from 2003 to 2005.

Interesting! I'll have to try those in New Mexico some time.
