I think something a lot of people have failed to mention in this topic is that when you get into a very serious relationship where you are at least living together or engaged, then often, regardless of sex or gender, friends even from your childhood take a backseat. I have seen it happen to many of a few of my friends.

That being said, I cant speak for everyone as I only set my own rules as an individual but I would think most people wouldnt want their SO being with said opposite sex friend were they not all hanging out together at the same time. No matter how morally righteous you perceive yourself as, hormones exist and temptation is a real thing.
Also these are all bad takes. Keep friendships outside of your relationship strong, codependency is bad. And "there's always temptation" is just you being a horndog projecting that onto others.

This.

I'm living with my SO. We've been together 3.5 years now. Never needed to go through his phone.

I've spent the night at male friend's homes. They're my friends. I sleep in the same bed with my girl friends. I'm bi. So, your (not link) rules going to apply to everyone for me? Cause I have slept with men and women. If not, I'm not following your logic.

Trans athletes have been able to compete in the Olympics since 04. 17 years worth of data and zero trans gold medalist should be pretty clear it isn't really an issue.

This. It's pretty much a non-issue virtue signal of the right. There are few trans people in the general population, and even fewer trans athletes, and even then there are plenty of cis women that can compete against the average male sex so their "advantage" is not even guaranteed.

Just something to get the right wing base riled up.

Because these controlling behaviors are often red flags and they escalate to worse situations. As others have stated, abusers and cheaters project and control. You think it started all at once?

The controlling behavior alone is shitty enough.

If you have a healthy relationship, you're not paranoid about them cheating.

It's a common trope controlling partners have a history of cheating themselves.

^
My ex threatened to kill multiple of my male friends (including Zucafa lol). He did this at a work party too. He had passwords and access to all my accounts, phone, computer. He tracked my location without my knowledge with Google location history. I wasn't allowed to go anywhere alone or anywhere with male friends.

Meanwhile he had been sleeping around for years but that was okay for some reason (I knew for the last few years -- at first it upset me that he was cheating but eventually he broke me down enough where I didn't care).

Funny how that works.

Also he was a violent, manipulative, abusive piece of shit.

I have zero concern about my current SO cheating and we have no desire to log in to each other's accounts or be controlling. We trust each other. I know he would break up with me if things weren't working out. Like a non controlling adult should.

I will never put up with the anxiety of being that controlled again. I'd rather be single.

Most of the guys on the other board would want you to bring over women to have a threesome because guys are gross. Some even think its weird to be in a monogamous relationship when youre bi. We were trying to explain being bi doesnt mean you have to be non-monogamous. I dont think they liked that...

I hope they're super vocal about that whenever they enter a relationship so people can nope right the fuck out of that

I feel like I already talked about it a bunch the other day with that ex-social worker guy so I don't want to rewrite all that stuff, but basically I think the concept of people being lazy/addicted/moochers is part myth, part a result of not having systems that fully ensure people are able to live a stable life. I don't know how you can say that UBI is bad when we don't even have it - or universal healthcare. Those are two pretty big missing pieces of the puzzle that could make a huge difference. Almost all of these boogeyman "lazy" people are poor, don't have access to good treatment for mental health issues, don't have access to drug treatment, or some combination of the three. Maybe if we solved those problems it would solve a lot of theirs too? What a concept.

related, canada study linked above:
> There was an 8.5% decline in hospitalisations primarily because there were fewer alcohol-related accidents and hospitalisations due to mental health issues and a reduction in visits to family physicians.

It's like people shitting on CGI. The really bad CGI stands out so it gets a bad rep, but the really good CGI with just nice little bits here and there isn't even noticed, but it looks nice.

Lots of people get plastic surgery. Good ones you don't know it. Some jobs are really botched and that gets a lot of attention and biases a dialogue around it in general.

You look great, it looks natural.

Also people are critical of women, perceived vanity, jealousy, etc.

Haters gonna hate.

I can do that most days, but there are days like yesterday where I'm just in a hole, you know?

Personally I fucking hate toxic positivity because it feels invalidating and like it's coming from a place that just can't relate or doesn't see me.

So things I've learned in therapy have a different take.

My therapist is like you can't tell someone who has had their house burn down that it's unlikely their house will burn down again. It happened.

So like. Acknowledge that things suck sometimes. Sit with that. It sucks. And know you can get through it.
