The country itself isn't real but it and the conflict/conditions are based on elements of 1920s Germany, Italy, Spain, the Soviet Union and post-revolutionary France.

Supposedly a company I'm going to be pitching for in the next few months gobbles up serialized/ensemble TV pitches like this but I'm wondering if this is too close to home for now.

Doesn't feel terribly appropriate given everything in the news over the last year or two but my colleague already had a series bible and treatment written up lol.

My dad spanked me once when I was like 4 or 5. Then he noticed I had a raised red handprint on my ass, I was crying, and that I was scared of him after and he was like "Nope not doing that again."

Ditto for my Mom. Though she smacked me on the face once when I mouthed off when I was 10.

There was a user here about a month ago talking about how he has to pay a fortune for his sleep apnea treatment and another talking about how they had to wait hours and hours for every appointment they go to due to the crowding.

Yeah, unfortunately some things aren't seen as essential, particularly dental, though there's a push to change that.

As for the crowding, do you remember what specifically they were talking about? Like was it something they were scheduled for and had set aside? Was it with their family doctor or a specialist?

I know in my home city the walk-in clinics tend to have a pretty lengthy wait depending on the time and the day of the week.

And if you go to the ER and your symptoms aren't seen as severe by the nurse/practitioner, you'll probably also wait a few hours there.

Though barring like one time I can't recall ever having to wait "hours and hours" for something I was scheduled for.

All I have to say on Canadian healthcare is I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, I had 6 months of intensive treatments/minor surgeries, and a bunch of prescription pills I had to take and the only money I spent was on parking and Tim Horton's if I got hungry.

It's very telling when someone uses that statement to describe the end of S2 of Mando.

Don't get me wrong, I fucking love it and it was awesome, but the fact that people feel the need to contrast it directly with his portrayal in the ST says quite a bit.

Mostly in that the Luke we see in Mando has almost no dialogue, no character arc, and spends 90% of his screen time hacking through legions of faceless robots.

Argue that he wasn't written correctly in the ST all you'd like but it's pretty stupid that people say that this is all they wanted instead is a stuntman jumping around a hallway.

On another note, the fact that Luke showing up and eclipsed literally everything else in the finale (the cool Mando v Gideon fight, the great character moments, the very nice goodbye between Grogu and Mando) is exactly why Abrams and Johnson were so hesitant to use him much more than they already did.
