I mean like I said, I would love for Locke or Sabin or even Kefka would be a fine winner, but I just think the base is more nostalgic towards the PS1 games/X, and they will be the favorites for as long as this goes on.

Personal thoughts

• The window on a 2D game winning this is closing fast I feel like, if it hasnt done so already. The base seems more invested in the Sony games, 7-10 especially.
• The pixel remaster may not help because I just looked its expensive as shit (75 bucks for all 6 yikes)
• Of the 4, I think people are a little burned on IX because of the negative stigma associated with its fans but I guess like, Beatrix/Freya can make a deep run and people will vote for Vivi a third time
• VIII is a tad divisive in nature and did win last year, but it has less wins than the other Sony games overall so its not impossible for it to catch up
• X is weird, I think people like Yuna and Rikku relatively enough but is it enough to come to a consensus? I feel some will save one but not the other in a top ten scenario.
• VII probably the favorite game, just because a remake and the only thing preventing it was Squall getting a overdue win and T getting a overdue finals appearance.
• Tactics and XII are probably long shots, but not impossible if theres circumstances that allow it
• XIII and XV I think people are fatigued with the former and the base actually hasnt been invested in playing much with the latter
