Why can we not get an infrastructure bill that raises wages and drives down the cost of living? Thats kind of the biggest issue here. Maybe force the billionaires to start paying their fair share.

Trump changed things to where the little guy cant donate what he can afford and still get a tax write off. You have to donate $12,000+. If you have $12,000 of disposable income, youre doing pretty well for yourself. Now, you cant donate $2,000 and get a tax credit. We should abolish that and make it to where you dont get credited for donating more than $100,000. This is the loophole that the rich use to side step paying taxes. They donate to their friends charity, then they avoid paying taxes. Then add to the infrastructure bill a massive reduction in military spending. Then we might have a fighting chance if the government starts focusing on us for a change, rather than the rich.

The only way to truly verify is to see examples of their refusal to cooperate, PIA and express both have had their servers seized and searched and there are official court documents backing up that they couldnt find anything. There are probably plenty more examples from other companies, but its hard to beat the security and overall features of PIA. Its just not the cheapest.

I use PIA, by far my favorite of the relatively small number ive tried.

What were they searching for? Its hard to believe the courts would go this far to see who is downloading old Nintendo games that they refuse to put on a modern system.

We *should* be listed as last. The hospitals bankrupt individuals and families every day with their unbelievable bills. Then insurance companies work hand in hand with them to screw you coming and going. You have to pay $300/month for insurance and you STILL have to pay $1,500+ every visit.

Its past time to socialize medicine and I cant believe that our leaders havent been more vocal about forgiving medical debt, too. Where does the money come from? Cut military spending drastically and stop giving money to Israel. There we have it.

even if the value of the land hadn't risen in the last 30 years, the cost of design, development, construction labor, materials, inspection, would make it hard to turn a profit on a 300 square foot studio at $5k a year now, let alone a 2 bed 2 bath with any sort of quality materials.

it seems like most of the people here live in fantasy land. without landlords many of these units would not exist. The US government has shown no real particular capability of managing public housing well. A few cities have managed normally low-rise / townhome / brownstone style (like max 3 floors) and had those projects turn out well, but any sort of large scale which you would be need for the 100M+ americans that rent, well that should be a larger nightmare to you than landlords. I imagine it would take months or years to get approval for a place in any major metro area. Want to move to San Francisco? Ok, 5 year wait. In the mean time you can stay in a hotel which will cost 3x more than it would have been with landlord.

landlords fill that gap between buying and hotels and over a long period of time, they are priced between the two.

Because thats what people can afford to pay. Housing should not be only for the wealthy. It should account for no more than 30% of your pay and thats all there is to it.

Same here, but I feel for the people who cant pay. Landlords like to play the victim, but if they charged a fair price (<$600/month), then most people could have paid it. They want $20,000/year and thats not right.

What is the government doing? Nothing. Most of the decision-makers are slumlords, too. Look at Trump and Kushner (yes, I know theyre not in power anymore).

I guess its time to go through my food stocks and see what I need to get in case of another pandemic. I would go in Walgreens and buy one bottle of hand soap and rubbing alcohol per trip (to make sure everyone else has their chance to get some) and I still have a good bit. I definitely could use some cleaning supplies and maybe some cans of soup.

On the other hand, businesses literally run the country and I dont think there will be another mandatory quarantine or limited capacity/take out only stuff. Money is more important to the people who run this country than our health and safety.

No, but I support the people doing so. If a place of business refuses to or cant pay a living wage, then it needs to shut down.

If the cost of living went down, people wouldnt be as opposed to working low-paying jobs, but inflation is so out of control that we need $30+/hr to stay out of the red. The funny thing is pro-capitalists oppose raising wages because they say it will cause inflation, but we for inflation without wages rising.

The government needs to put very strict and punitive regulations on rental companies. They have no business charging people what theyre charging to rent a crappy, dilapidated house.

Honestly, I agree. Its saying that the business doesnt want to pay its customers, so the customer should pick up the slack. Now you catch shade if you dont leave a massive tip. The prices for everything have gone up so much that you paying 20% is you paying a lot more than you used to.

The customer should not be responsible for paying the workers. The thing that burns me up is delivery fees that dont go to the delivery driver. The companies make them use their own gas and put wear and tear on their car, but the $3 delivery fee for every order goes directly to corporate. Then people dont tip because they assume the $3 is a forced tip. This is happening because corporate is cheap and greedy and they want all profits to go to the top.

95% of landlords are absolute pieces of shit.

Yes, there are definitely a few who really go the extra mile and stuff like that, but it couldnt be more than 5% of them.

They try to whine to the public, oh, this one tenant owes me $20k for a yearss rent. Okay? You should never have charged someone $20k for a year of rent. If it was $5k for the year (which is what it should be), then they probably could have come up with it. Zero sympathy for these slumlords demanding so much.

Some of it. I like Duality and Wait and Bleed, but its hard to not like those songs if you like heavy music. I still cant believe Joey Jordison passed away that guy was seriously one of the best drummers on the circuit. While I cant say his style influenced my playing, it was amazing (I took most influence from Nick Mason, Bonham, Moon, and Ginger Baker).

Short staffing is when they have a considerably large number of people on payroll and corporate refuses to put more than a skeleton crew on the floor because its cheaper for them. Theyre making one person do the work of four so they can avoid writing paychecks.

This is what we are seeing in restaurants, retail stores, etc. Its nothing more than corporate greed and the customer suffers because of it. Then the corporation claims that people dont want to work. Youve got fifteen people begging to be put on the floor, but youre choosing not to let them work.

If youre going to make me do the work of four people, then youre damn well going to quadruple my salary/wage. THIS is a huge part of why people are quitting those jobs in record numbers. Its bad enough being paid an unlivable wage for one persons workload, but Im not going to be paid minimum wage and have work heaped on me to increase corporates profit.

Ive been seeing the same thing. People just sort of woke up during the pandemic and realized that they dont want to go back to those soul-sucking, abusive jobs that underpay and overwork the workers.

These fast food companies spend SO much on advertising, but they cant afford to pay the workers a living wage. Picking on fast food workers is basically a national past time now and you literally cant afford to rent a tiny apartment and pay your bills working full time. If you go in a fast food lobby you are almost guaranteed to see a skeleton crew frantically trying to do the work of 6-9 people. Thats workplace abuse and nobody wants to put up with it. I honestly hope fast food goes under as a reminder to CEOs and business worker what is going to happen if you dont pay your workers.

Of course, I would be fine keeping the wages the same if we lowered the cost of living by about 80%.

So theyre short staffing you and making you do 2+ peoples jobs at once? If youre doing three peoples work, you should get 3x the pay. Simple as that. This short staffing trend has got to stop. I dont know if youve seen the topics about the pharmacist (I think its hockeybub89) whose entire pharmacy is quitting because of this corporate short staffing, but this is like everywhere. Businesses dont want to write paychecks, but they want all the work done.

Its great, but not perfect. The digital store is 99% NES games that no one asked for. No N64, GBA, DS/3DS. No ports of the DS/3DS Pokmon games. The system is underpowered and the controllers are designed to break after a couple of weeks. Instead of fixing the issue, they let you send them in, wait several weeks, and finally get a new one. Ports are whats keeping this system going. We get platformers, ports, and indie games.

Now, with that said, Im going to go play my switch.
