When I said kids weren't allowed to fail last year I meant everyone moved up a grade no matter what. So even if they "failed" they didn't really fail Thats the first I ever heard of that. We were at 100% capacity from mid September to about March and went back Hybrid to finish the year. We failed students that refused to work. A third of our students in EACH grade had 2 Fs or more. Even I failed three students, and I rarely fail kids. But, even then what you described is the failure of remote learning: kids that didnt do anything (most of them) still got socially promoted. So now theyre in the next grade with none of the prerequisite skills required for the next course. So teachers now have to teach these concepts on top of the new concepts. (Many who barely showed up at all still passed) In what district/state? We failed plenty of kids for not doing the work, as did most districts in Louisiana. It wasnt a free pass.
