Infertility is considered after 1 year of inability to conceive in women <35 years old, and after 6 months of inability in 35 year-olds. There are many causes for infertility, but about 1/3 to 1/2 of all cases are idiopathic meaning that there is no known explanation. I would strongly suggest that his wife sees a gynecologist to initiate a work-up if it's warranted (which it sounds like it is). Fertility evaluations and treatments are not typically expensive until the remaining option is IVF.He just admitted to me that he has no sex drive. Not having children ASAP after marriage is a huge concern for Asian folks he claims. If you don't have a baby ASAP after marriage then people will quickly make assumptions of you two not being able to have a baby. He's married to a Hmong woman for 2 and half years and he say's they're struggling to have a baby. He's trying but he's very patient and still very open minded about it, after all it hasn't even been 3 years yet. The problem is his wife makes a huge deal about it and so does his elders and his wife's elders. Nearly everyone is calling him and wife to see doctors, take western and eastern medicine to improve their sex life, their sperm, their body, etc etc to have and make babies. Go see a spiritual counselor, have their fortunes looked at, bless them with good luck. It's all very overwhelming and incredibly frustrating for him. His wife is also incredibly concerned about not having a baby and often scolds him for not doing enough to help the cause. He says she goes into tears and cries yelling at him at least once every 2 weeks about this. Really dunno how to help him and I told him "Look dude. We live in America. There's things like fertility doctors and adoptions so you have options, though they are prolly really expensive. And personally I think it's okay not to have children.".
