idk, I haven't been in school in like 20 years... but we did the start of parabolas in Grade 4 so I'd assume a more accelerated class would be doing that in Grade 3

the logic is that the kids are learning how to figure out HOW to figure out the nature of the puzzle. Since the outputs display exponential growth then the quadratic formula is a good place to start

it's kind of ambiguous since there's something like an infinite number of functions that can generate that very short sequence.

let's say f(1) = 5 is constant, f(2) = 10 is constant
and then f(n), n > 2 = f(n - 1) * f(n - 2) + f(n - 2)

then f(3) = 10 * 5 + 5 = 55
and f(4) = 55 * 10 + 10 = 560

but that's just one option
