I mean sometimes I wonder what your objectives are. If your goal is to feel morally righteous you can absolutely just wave off the concerns as illegitimate. I too think the concerns are mostly unreasonable considering Americas current level of government control.

But moral superiority is 100% the reason Clinton lost. She campaigned in states that werent winnable because she was obviously going to win and Trumps claims were so ludicrous.

Big Government as Republicans define it isn't anything to be afraid of. What should be feared is mass incarceration.

I mean communism is the end point Republicans warn about, and that has always resulted in autocracy throughout history.

I mean you can argue slippery slope and whatnot, but completely disregarding the underlying concerns of Republicans is exactly why Cubans in florida came out for Trump

I mean, I think there is a legitimate reason to fear big government. Republics falling into authoritarian rule has happened a hundred times throughout history by now.

The disconnect at this point is thinking the current day Republican Party is actually a party that supports small government.

Thought this was interesting

Honestly the takeaway I infer here is Gen Z republicans are driven by anti-cancel culture and dont want people to hurt them when they post unflattering things. This makes sense given its the generation that is the most immature.

Which is pretty interesting. Im still trying to digest what that means for political strategy

Afghanistan is Vietnam all over again. The timing regarding Presidential administrations even works out.

This is really overemphasizing the cost. Sure it was expensive, but at least most of the money circulated back to US contractors and US employees. Vietnam was horrific losses of life both for US soldiers and native residents of Vietnam.

With 77% of the country semi vaccinated, making the Republicans the anti vaccine party is a horrendously bad idea if they want to win.

Edit, can't find that 77% number now. Might be just adults. Still

that does make sense. same reason why bill clinton was popular, i assume. americans seem to find it extremely important that a president seems like a "lovable neighbor" or "guy who would be fun to hang out with in a bar" (regardless of how based in reality these images are).

Yep. Bill Clinton was the exact same way

This is also why I eye roll at AOC talking about playing league of legends.

I don't want us to assume that every covid death is from an anti-vaxxer lib-hater. There's going to be lower class folks who can't find the time, or public transit to, a vaccine appointment are included in those deaths.

About 3 weeks ago I was on the interstate and pulled off at a random Walmart in Georgia to pick up something.

The first thing I noticed is it was 98% black. I may have been the only white person in the store

The second thing I noticed was it was 98% masked and I was the only person not wearing one because I was vaccinated.

Anecdotal evidence, but I think the vast majority of deaths from here on out are going to be brazen anti mask anti vaccines.

Do you honestly believe any Republican voter is going to remember how terribly Trump mismanaged COVID? They're going to point to the numbers of unvaccinated people dying of Delta and scream about how Biden's incompetent and anyone could have handled things better.

Unless they are dead.

600,000 dead isnt nothing. Im curious if Delta (or worse) keeps up if that might actually change vote counts

Actually it is a disaster for Biden if Trump re-runs. Trump will run on how he would have done it better and was winding down troops and withdrawing without this backlash. Biden will state Trump is what let the Taliban foster in the first place, but Trump is gonna have ads of the planes and such to win that amongst independents.

Oh, you are already in 2024. I can't imagine anyone remembering this at the time with how whiplash the news cycle has been over the last couple years.

The main 2024 debate could be whether to send troops to Taiwan for all we know.

To be fair, letting in millions of refugees is exactly what got Europe into the situation that it is currently in. It would be political suicide to do the same in the US. Ultimately, Afghanis have to be responsible for resolving their own issues, as clearly we can't fix them for them.

Ehhh

I feel that isn't a fair comparison. Immigration was an EU issue mainly because the members had such radically different views on it which created a large schism. While immigration is a fairly large issue to the GOP, it really isn't one of the largest ones imo.

I don't think the democrats are pro immigrant enough or GOP anti immigrant enough for it to be the flash point it was in the EU, especially with the coronavirus blanketing everything

I absolutely loved it. I loved it a lot more than BOTW though, but I thought BOTW was one of my least favorite Zelda games.

I did a full completion of it, but I haven't touched the DLC yet. Basically, it has some absolutely hilarious humor in it from the Gods, mostly, and playing off the character. The combat is really fun, and can get really challenging as well. I had a great time doing all the puzzles and they somehow never felt terribly repetitive. I can't remember what the map marking technique is, but you can just go to high areas and scan to find objectives to go to.

But I had an awesome time playing and never got bored. The ending kind of comes in a bit fast, unfortunately, and they do the Ubisoft thing of trying to push microtransactions in your way, but it never feels necessary at all.

I dunno what in particular you liked about BOTW, but pretty much everything I hated about BOTW I felt they fixed in IFR.

My guess is we are polar opposites. I hated horizon zero dawn for instance because it felt like work. I didnt want to collect 20 artifacts on the minimal, but felt I had to because they were there

I thought BotW was amazing because it just let me find things, I would see a cool mountain in the distance and get excited that there was probably something cool there, because there always was something cool in weird places.

Ive heard immortals is way closer to the horizon zero dawn style of everything being on your map so I noped out hard
