no, it was my mom's sibling. they had no idea this happened until after my grandparents were dead

longer story:

after all the siblings but the youngest immigrated to america, my grandparents had another daughter (5th in a row), they really wanted a son (seen as more desirable back then). they planned to keep trying until they got a son, but couldn't afford to keep another daughter so they gave her up for adoption. the youngest who was still overseas obviously was too young to know any details. if anyone was curious, their next kid ended up being a son. but my grandparents ended up being the laughing stock of the village because it took them 6 tries to get a son

it would be my grandparents who went to an adoption center, but they are both dead. they didn't want anyone to know this secret while they were still alive

they look to make moves every single day, long hours, continuously, it becomes so ingrained in them they can't stop....im not sure they even enjoy life or know how to

yeah, they just wanted you to refine it so it's closer to perfect. they already know you'll drop out if they fail you this time. they want people to pass, it reflects poorly on them when grad students drop out or fail out. it's like how in grad school you can't get lower than a B or you don't pass the class...B just becomes the new C as the standard. as long as you put in the work, you'll be fine
