From what you have said, 100k is just not enough for the lifestyle you want. If you live within your means 100k is more than enough for a regular person 2.5K rent/mortgage payments, car payments and other expenses. You should still have more than 1K each month saved after all expenses.

TC is right. It just isn't that much. I always had this idea in my head that once I got to certain arbitrary amounts I would feel like I had all this money and stop stressing and it just didnt happen. $75k, $100k, $10k/month. I still feel like its not enough.

If you say so, but, it doesn't sound like you can afford it. I mean, you made a thread complaining about 100k being not much money and you are making close to that. In addition you said you cannot buy what you want to buy which you also reason is a really good investment. This signals you are hurting.

But I don't agree that it is a good investment.
1. First of all, there is too much work you gotta do just to be able to buy it. Factor in your time cost.
2. That is alot of money to put into one investment as if no one buys it for some reason, it is money you cannot reinvest.
3. It is a fragile item that can break easy.
4. It is the first thing people try to steal. You could be out one night and get robbed and all that money down the drain.
Many more better ways to invest that kind of money.

But if your intent is so people think you are rich, well, that is what it is really for.

Yea with $500 HOA, you could have just bought a better property and take additional 100K loan and bought a 600k place. Home value will always rise but HOA is just sunk costs each month. I can understand if you live in like NYC where its majority condos/co-ops you pay HOA, but in Socal (I believe you said you live in Socal), theres really no point with all the houses you can get.

Ima be honest. I make less than 100k and could buy a rolex if I wanted. But that is thing, I don't want to. I spend what I make wisely.

If you are single making 100k is not a lot if you own a home. But if you get married, each person making 100k will be plenty. Hell even if your S/O makes only 50k, thats still enough. Its gonna suck only have 1 income on a 500k house especially with the $500 HOA on top of it too. You have to think of it as an investment and you are saving money already with making your payments and rise of your home value.

Should have just bought a starter home first if you can't put a bigger down payemnt and then in a couple of years move on when you make more money and you owe less on your home after however many payments.

Me and my wife put 150K down on a 475K house 5 years ago. Payments were 2K including everything but I put in 400$ a month more each month so it comes out to 2.4K total each month payment (basically putting 400$ in savings and lowering my loan from 30 years to 19 years). In a couple of years I can move to a better neighborhood/better house.

TIL the suburbs are terrible and should be avoided at all costs.

I'd buy a cheaper condo or rent somewhere cheaper obviously. Why would I need a 3 bedroom for just me? And what tax benefits? The $10k I can deduct in property taxes which is just ever so slightly better than the standard deduction? It ain't that great.
