On one hand, I think both the PS5 and Series X should have been delayed a year. Stock shortages, the PS5 has like three games, and they're Demon's Souls, Returnal, and Ratchet and Clank, spread out over like a year, which isn't enough to carry a console. Don't get me started on Xbox with what, Flight Simulator and The Medium? I compare it to the Switch which also had a super soft launch... but it launched with Breath of the Wild, one of the highest rated games of all time. And there was a consistent release of quality games through the next year. Imagine if the Switch launched without Zelda. That's what the PS5/SeX launches are like.

But! On the other hand! They're selling out everywhere so it's clearly working so far from a business perspective.

I had a playthrough of Origins not long ago where I roleplayed as a human noble who was just dead set on being a warden, to the point that they would defeat the blight at any cost. The world wasn't their responsibility beyond defeating the blight. That was their attitude. So I used the anvil, because yeah sure it's horrible and might result in bad stuff in the future, but it will help us defeat the blight now and that's what matters. Didn't do any of the ritual stuff with Morrigan because while she promised it would defeat the blight, we already have a method that I knew for sure would end the blight; sacrificing myself in the final battle. Also made Loghain a warden and Alistair an angry, bitter king married to Anora.

The only bit in the game, the only bit, where I couldn't roleplay as I wanted was confronting the guy that kills the human noble's family, the Tim Curry guy. My character wouldn't have really paid him any mind about the "personal" stake. It would have played out with Tim Curry confused that I didn't care, or something like that. But no, my character's only options were all "nooooo why did you kill them" or "I'm going to kill you so bad!" and that kind of stuff. It wasn't my character's concerns anymore.

It was the first time I've really roleplayed in an RPG (usually I just make someone with my name who's nice to everyone) and it was so much fun. A lot more memorable than my usual playthroughs. I tried to roleplay in Inquisition similarly. I made a female dwarf who was supposed to be obsessed with collecting knowledge, to the point they get tunnel vision about it and make poor decisions. But the dialogue options just aren't there to reflect the kind of character I'd envisioned. Instead it's just like "different shades of the same hero". A bit like Shepard in Mass Effect.

I'm guessing they just assume you have the technical skills by the time you're applying for the job, and the interviews are more to narrow down the candidates to the person that's most pleasant and constructive to work with.

The moment Tyrion killed Tywin and escaped, the show messed up the whole final interaction between Tyrion and Jaime when he was escaping for no reason at all. It was all downhill from there.

Man, that bit hurt. Tyrion's wife was one of, if not the most important of his development. Cutting her meant this entire escape section really didn't make sense in terms of the character's interactions and motivations.

They also sanitised the heck out of his character. In the books he's clever, but constantly getting himself in trouble because he has to be the smartest guy in the room quipping all the time, aggravating everyone. This escalates over the series, until he's a pathetic ruined drunk. But in the show, he actually is the smartest guy in the room but everyone else is dumb and that's why nothing goes right for him, because everyone is just mean to him :(

The best 3 album run I can think of among bands I like is Pavement. Slanted and Enchanted > Crooked Rain Crooked Rain > Wowee Zowee. Each a contender for their best album, depending on what you like.

I don't agree with the common idea that The Hobbit movies were doomed because they were a trilogy. They could have made for a great trilogy I think. But they ended up skimming over stuff they could have filled it out with (like the Mirkwood elven place or Beorn) and replacing it with new dumb stuff. Not all the new stuff was dumb. The Dol Guldur stuff was cool, although I'm not sure how well it flowed with the movie. But the hour~ long scene in the second one of them fighting the dragon? BOO!

Surely it would be quicker to do something successfully that has a 20% chance once, than it is to do it 160 times, regardless of the chance of those 160 attempts.

But who's to say being content is better than the highs and lows of the silly human things we do? If that type of contentedness is the normal state of being, why does it take such deliberate decisions and hard work to reach?

Actually I've made it sound a lot more reasonable than it is. Can't the joy we get from worldly pleasures be worth more than the pain we might get? It all feels nihilistic. "That doesn't bother me because I've learned not to be invested in anything!". Big deal, my mental illness does that to me for free.

The branch or school or whatever of Buddhism I've been learning about seems to focus on "insight meditation" as well. Which seems to be summed up as "meditate by focusing on the rising and falling of your stomach when you breathe. This will help you learn the ultimate reality of the universe". Haven't you missed a bit???

I've kinda given up on GTA Online because the performance, at least on my Xbox One, is nearly unplayable. There used to be a method to get into a game by yourself by doing a connection test during a game or something, which would make it okay, but last time I tried that it didnt work anymore. An online game with any amount of people in it just looks horrible.
