uh yeah, i'm really not on board with validating wang's argument. a bad post is a bad post. i'm not going to spend a ton of time thinking "but WHY did this person make this bad post?" every single time someone makes a bad post.

also, wang is the last person i want to hear this argument from, since he's never given me the SLIGHTEST bit of this kind of benefit of the doubt over the years. in the gamergate topics, he would bash me into the ground for getting the most minute shit wrong, even though i'm probably better versed in GG shit than 99% of the board.

got to the part where you're responding to my post. regarding "i didn't say i was more embarrassed to be on the left" - it wasn't meant to be a direct quote (though i can see how the quotation marks made it seem that way). i was paraphrasing. that being said, you did say "it's becoming a greater and greater embarrassment to associate with the majority of that side," which i don't think is too far off from my paraphrase? not sure why you're acting like i was wildly misquoting you here.

kind of disappointed you didn't respond at all to the second part of my post, which i thought was far more important. you just read it aloud and then... went on to the next post >_>

i'm 27 minutes in and here's one thing i want to comment on, in addition to what SEP said. you said you made the "how many comedy shows have you been to" post to make the point that if you see a lot of bad comedians, you appreciate the good ones more. i'm still not entirely sure why you made that point - maybe you were responding to "chappelle's jokes were not funny" post by saying that he's a lot funnier than amateur comedians? even then, i don't think anyone in the topic was arguing that chappelle is a bad comedian in general. they just thought the jokes about trans people weren't funny. still, with this added context, your post does make a little more sense. your post is kind of socratic method-ish (i loathe the socratic method so that's already a problem) and you didn't explain why you asked the question at all in the post itself, so it seems to be completely random. i remember when you made it at the time and being like "what does this have to do with anything?"

in fairness, not providing proper context and/or a proper explanation is a problem with a lot of people's posts in this topic. this is why i get really pissed off at something like kevwaffles saying "lasa, tony is completely right!" like, if you read the tony/me debate and think tony is on point and i'm full of shit, that's totally fine. you might be right. but why? if you explain your reasoning, we can have a conversation about this and i might learn something. but what the fuck is the point of just saying something like "tony is soooo right"? you shouldn't post at all if you're not going to put any effort of explaining yourself into your post. like SEP said, i can't look into your head, so i have no idea why you think tony is right and i'm wrong.

i think a lot of conflict in this topic could be avoided if people put in a little more effort into their posts, instead of just lazily dropping their streams of consciousness in here.

Been saying this for years. Marcia Lucas wasn't on Episode 3 to reign George in and it shows because it's so bad. That stuff is great, but everything else about the movie is just butt. Episode 3 was a precursor to the PT, the DNA of what Lucas uncaged truly means is visible throughout it.

I never ever ever could understand the Foo Fighters love. To me they are basically the most generic rock band in existence and have no distinct style or do anything remotely interesting sonically or lyrically.

i used to like the foo fighters but this mostly sums up my current feelings on the band. i do think they do generic rock well - much better than, say, nickelback - but it's not music i ever go out of my way to listen to.

It's been several days now since I wandered in the last thread drunk and ruffled a bunch of feathers, however - I wish to apologize for my behavior, which was like that of an unrepentant assnut. I was belligerent and mean, terse, and just impossible to deal with. There's no excuse for that here. Nobody deserves it, and I don't have the right to act that way.
