i know i supported cantata mortis & god in fire but it kinda super needed to not have god in fire in it to get my vote here (not saying that i strictly dislike god in fire, just that seymour is better)
wayward and sunrise work pretty well but not well enough for me to like them a huge amount

i get it, 2's is just considerably more consistent (especially considering how much stuff that isn't even there could be, can't believe there are 6 other songs that i'd consider from it exclusively and i still think it's too difficult to switch anything out from the existing set there... maybe one of the idolas or frenzy wilds but i wouldn't say to commit to that at all)

still 1's highs are pretty noteworthy (also day dawns, mother earth 1, growl (though it's too short, i still actually like it more than ep2 growl))

anyway mother earth 2 still my personal favourite pso1 song for what little that means

i was thinking more about its low number of reps than anything so idk maybe something from a different ep instead. not sure if i'd evict either present song there since they probably are the two strongest

i'm not sure what the distinction between best indie and best debut indie here is considering 12 mins is in the main one but not debut? either way i'm sure they're going to make it kena both ways. glad to see inscryption make it on though, i didn't expect it to (and especially not in strategy as well). also rip opus echo of starsong. could've been a good opportunity for stuff like library of ruina or death trash depending on their approach to early access. oh and ender lilies too. (i think that's everything in my personal list of indie things i thought could've made it on...)

i have weetbix (or more accurately the storebrand variant wheat biscuits) here more than other cereals combined, not saying it's a solution here but it is good. pretty solid value too tbh, i have about 2 on average per day (with milk and either a moderate amount of sugar, canned diced peaches, or stewed apples) so with 50 in the boxes at $4nzd they always last around a month

As a Little Tail Bronx fan, I think it's a cool game, but I don't really like it as much as Tail Concerto or especially Solatorobo. It's a bit of a shame that they committed to self-publishing this game yet cancelled all the other cool little tail bronx games they couldn't get a publisher for in the last decade (like their extremely Nausicaa-like action game codenamed Project Venom, or their ambitious PS3 game inspired by NGE and TTGL, Strelka Stories)

Hoping the other trilogy of vengeance titles eventually release too, they've all been delayed so long i'm still worried about them even after fuga's release. tokyo ogre gate could've been sayonara wild hearts before sayonara wild hearts tbh (but with a dark kill la kill-like theme) and cecile was basically bloodstained with witches

oh, kemonopoly and bunny e-shop actually cost more than vellescian gambit

at least i was technically right about its pricing though (barely lol)

well it's not purely the nomination totals here but the fact that the songs that made it through the wildcard selection process were the ones that have the 16 seeds. not that it's inherently flawed reasoning when they also technically got outvoted before that, but still it's the fact that the 16 seeds are all songs confirmed able to win matches that is mostly causing this imo

two great ff8 arrangements today but neither quite manages to top the originals (given the lofty standards they have to compare to, that's hardly a slight against them). brutal ffxiv raidboss extreme gets the benefit of being an arrangement of a slightly better base song and being an arrangement i have very little to criticise and it also just gets an easier matchup (no offense to apocanoctis lypsis but it's just a little outclassed)

i tend to forget that gb sagas have some legit chiptune stuff in them (that should otherwise be/is memorable enough to deserve to be considered iconic). it's too bad it's facing up against one of what i've only now really been coming to terms with as unfortunately many examples of ff13-2's kind of revolutionary soundtrack (look i listened to it in full when it came out but most of the time now i just get reminded of it through talk on crazy chocobo or that big bridge arrangement). unseen abyss is a song made possible through some guy otherwise mainly known as a parasite eve composer (ok he was on ff11 too) and another guy they'd dragged away from (early) bemani and shmup stuff who also happened to be suitable for parasite eve. like shit man that's a dangerous team to have for non-mmo mainline final fantasy. 13-2 may have taken a """"safe"""" approach in many ways by tackling issues people had with the original head on but that philosophy clearly wasn't applied to the music... and yet, damn did it work.

speaking of ambitious songs, aeons. aeons is... yes. aeons has had a lot of goodass arrangements that are excellent in their own right but nothing has really managed to fully beat the original at its game. this is an evil match though where it's up against something that almost inexplicably cannot stop pulling at my heartstrings. i want aeons to win but i also want eternity to advance more. it's a feeling alright. i blame feelings

ok i guess it makes sense that the match with 4 songs would end up harder to decide and also have more good songs in it but again argh why must the last matches always have the better stuff i'd take over the other matches huh.

anyway some extra opinions just because i feel like it

nothing against rebel army arrange and ff12 gilgamesh but if decisive battle doesn't make it i will be disappointed

ffrk fyw could've conceivably gotten my vote but i couldn't decide if i actually liked it more than the original (an unfortunately extreme standard). to its credit, it really is close

chaos shrine arrangement targets an interesting direction and achieves it without a hitch so i see why it's favoured here but it just feels like... a desunoya ost this way. or some other 2hu fangame ost like kobato's or something. or monster boy idk. there's media out there that this fits in with so i can't decide if i really like it or not

four fiends pixel remaster arrange has a certain fullness to it. a lot of the arranges tend to just make me think "oh it's kinda like octopath then" but this one skips past that over to almost etrian level

lava dome owns so much more than battle 3 it deserves better :/ (don't be afraid was also better than lava dome tho so lol)

regret not giving a support to westward tide... really, considering how much i apparently care now, i guess i should've done a better job of checking for bubble songs to save in general

i moved gradually over the last few days and also still need to move things back into my bookshelf

having said that, videogame unpacking i am keen to dive into, maybe not for the current $30nzd it's priced at though... still, the demo was a worthwhile experience

barebones boardgame videogames are an apparent weakness of mine so i will definitely be picking up kemonopoly. there's some chinese bunny girl shop management sim coming out the same day that looks pretty cute too so i'll probably get both (chances are they'll both be like $2 anyway). and speaking of cheap games, sunny-place, the next noteworthy game project from the creator of the spaceman sparkles series, might be entering early access this month as well.

regarding games that will likely be worth more than $5 (oh no) there's also some indie naval trading adventure game called the vellescian gambit targeting a release around the middle of the month apparently and that's also a rare weakness of mine. i've got some nostalgia for games like uncharted waters (or most personally, tradewinds) and they're hardly seen these days. and also, apparently OU might be this month as well which may well be a goty contender for me so if that's the case than yeah that's on the list too.

won't be getting it but i'm honestly looking forward to seeing an unhealthy number of vtubers picking up and playing the powerpro game near the end of the month (as usual)
