Oh and there are a lot of "ride along"-style missions, not escorts like in early AC games but still quests where you're just following and listening to someone and it's kinda slow. The story is based a lot on building alliances to fortify your position in England and you do that by forging alliances with various territories. So say you do Territory A and it will unlock Territory B and C for story questing (you can explore however you want), and Territory C's story might be a continuation of Territory A while B might be kinda independent. | Hexenherz 08/07/21 5:44:59 PM #2 | More of what same? It has the same sort of set up as Origins and Odyssey but the gameplay still feels different. They streamlined side content so you're not clearing copy-and-paste camps a thousand times but rather just completing unique short encounters that are generally localized to the area where you find them. There are also a fun new diversions in the form of flyting (like ancient rap battles) and a dice-poker game. Inventory management was improved considerably. The return of a settlement that you can develop and unlock new content with was very awesome after not having it in the last few games. It's not anything super outstanding but it's a cool feature. Ancient story is still meh. I found it more compelling than Odyssey but not as good as Origins. From a modern day story perspective, it's the first game in the series since 3 to actually address the conclusion of 3 and the repercussions of that game's ending. Things I liked... 1) Being able to buy supplies and outfit your weaponry. 2) Shooting feels better than in L4D 3) I'm anticipating the camp will be more developed with shops and stuff at launch which is exciting. Things I didn't like... 1) Enemy AI is janky, they have weird, non-fluid movement. 2) Finales are underwhelming as shit. 3) Very little separation between the campaigns or acts in the beta... everything has the same ugly blue gloomy look to it. 4) AI teammates are not viable at all in their current state. 5) Enemy design is really bland.
