The fact is that most people aren't, and will just find new and interesting ways to be wasteful if companies stop offering the current ones. Obviously companies should be regulated to not pollute and waste and yet that's not happening. This is a systemic problem and it's caused by corporations seeking maximum profit and lobbying to keep these regulations away. Corporations created this problem and are the biggest contributors to it. It makes no sense to wash away their responsibility by pretending everyone is equally to blame.

The bottom line is that the guys at the top are the same as you and everyone else in that they are totally apathetic and unwilling to change. The sole difference is that they have power (namely, the power to lobby) and you do not.

Guaranteed I have a much lower footprint than even you, the champion of blaming the individual. I rarely eat meat. I drive a plug-in hybrid which I drive on electric as much as possible, only filling up on gas once or twice a year. I minimize garbage to the point where I'm only putting out a single bag of trash once a month or two. I use a bidet to greatly reduce toilet paper usage. I even put my lifestyle into practice when I write code, writing towards efficiency to reduce electricity usage.

The bottom line is that my individual action doesn't make a dent. It's vastly overshadowed by the pollution and waste generated by a few massive corporations. These corporations lobby to keep these awful practices because it maximizes profits. In this never-ending pursuit of profits, they also pay workers as little as possible, which drives them to pinch pennies as well. If you want to buck the trend and pay more, you end up paying more for the same product from a company that may or may not actually be as green as they claim.

This stupid bug-eating shit is part of that race to the bottom. The elites will continue to eat gourmet meals, live in luxurious mansions, fly their private jets everywhere, party on their yachts, and have dick-measuring contests with rocket ships. Meanwhile the rest of us are expected to eat bugs and live in tiny boxes. That you think the blame is shared equally with the average person just makes you look silly.

Well, I was involved in a fight.

A kid called Aaron threw a rock at my head. For no reason. So I threw on back, then Aaron went apeshit at me and got me in a grapple.

NOTE: You should know right about now I don't take shit from any body.

Anyway, we were in a grapple and he was trying to kick me in the nuts.
But I wouldn't let him. Anyway, after about 10 seconds of that I just said
"Aaron this is how it's done..." Then kicked him straight in the nuts. For about the next minute and a half he was just standing there going "MY BALLS!" Anyway I walked off and then a while later, a mob of about 30 people came running down the hill and circled me. I was just full like "HOLY FUCK!" and I started running. I had the mob chase me for about three laps of the school. By the time I had done it about three times there were about four people left, the rest were tired out or had given up.

Anyway I beat the shit out of them all. Methods used:
-Catching kicks and flicking your hand upwards (thus flipping them sidways)*
-Punching in the face
-Slamming head on wall
-Kicking in shins, then elbowing in head

And you know something? I didn't even get suspended because I just told the teacher "Hey it was self defense!!" then I just walked out of the office.

*Last year I was going to shoot an action movie with my friend Dean. The Matrix inspired us here, that's where move number one came from. Plus, we were on concrete, and landing on your back on concrete really hurts.

Yeah, they're crustaceans and live in the ocean. There are insects that have reserves of protein on them as well. The differences between them are marginal. You eat shrimp and lobster because it's a social norm, not because one is a crustacean and the other is an insect and anyone civilized draws that line.

You're the one who thinks you're a genius for calling crustaceans insects and acting all smug like "heh, these fools don't even know they're eating insects from the water" even though you're wrong. The differences are *not* marginal. Shrimp and lobster have a lot more meat to them and are much easier to remove the shells of than with bugs. Notice how when people talk about eating actual insects, they want it in a powdered form, deep-fried, heavily seasoned, and/or coated in some way. They're gross and need to be hidden or covered to be palatable.
