Just finished a 4+ mile run. Glorious day outside. It was about 48 and sunny.

Now eating a mix of chickpeas, tomatoes, spinach, couscous, and feta (leftovers from what my wife made last night), and then smashed a couple fried eggs on top.

Better than it looks and lots of protein and fiber

Not until October

I did one in 2017 and it sucked. But my training was bad, I got injured, and the run was on the 4th of July. 75 degrees at 6am

I think I convinced my running buddy to go with me, so hopefully she can keep me motivated

Obviously I know the benefits of a home gym but don't make assumptions

Okay, April is going to be better than March. Between moving, snow, and kids' Spring Break, I kinda sucked.

I lifted on Wednesday, doing a mix of chest, shoulders, back, biceps, and triceps

Ran 2.5 miles yesterday (kept it short because it had been 12 days and didn't want sore quads)

Did 100 pushups today and about to walk a couple miles.

Here is the big question. A friend is trying to get me to run a half marathon with her in October. Should I sign up?

Edit: trying to recruit another friend. She is my running buddy (and life therapist lol). If I can get her to sign up too, I might follow through.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

I mostly agree with this, but then you need to be trying a lot of things that are more acceptable to what you like to do. There is also this misconception about bars being full of drunk rowdy people when that simply is not true for the vast majority of bars. Most bars are pretty chill actually.

If I was struggling to find dates, I would certainly be Googling the best ways to do so. After my divorce I spent about 6 months doing nothing. After that I started using dating apps, but I had zero matches after a couple weeks. I found out later it's because my profile and my pictures sucked. Later once I fixed those, It made a world of difference.

Anyway, I never had to Google a list of things I could do because when I was on the verge of doing so, some woman came on to me and changed my perspective and confidence a lot. I guess I was lucky. Oh wait, I met her because I went to a bar. :)

I have also had people tell me I already had a leg up because I had been married before. But I had been with her 20 years since I was 19, and had no real dating experience prior. I was also pretty much set up by her with mutual friends so maybe there was a little bit of luck there as well. But so much of what we call a lock is simply opportunity. It is very hard to get lucky when you never put yourself in a position to get lucky.

I am not saying people have to be like me or do what I did. What I am saying is that if finding a relationship is important, then you have to actually do something about it. And more than likely you will have to be quite persistent and keep at it even through many setbacks

That feels a little unfair to choose some arbitrary event, then claim "if you've never _____, then you've never truly tried at all."
But there is soooo much you haven't tried, or only tried once and quit after a setback.

Yeah, I read the book back in 2018. I wasn't impressed. What's funny is that it was part of a short lived book club, and my wife was in it. We didn't start dating for over 2 years after that.

If there's multiple acres of woods behind your house, then there's probably a ton of wildlife in there that you just haven't seen yet. My gf's parents live in the mountains near some woods. Like, the woods aren't even that close by, but there's just tons of animals that come into that neighborhood. Deer, quails, rabbits, coyotes, mountain lions, etc.

You'll probably get more cool pics/videos
I did see canine prints after a big snow last weekend. Either coyote or fox

Seen rabbits and squirrels of course. I know there are turkeys in the area too.
