when the ending of an episode completely wins me over the rest of it - 2nd last episode of Journeys, the Latias that's been following Ash/Misty/Brock during this mini-arc comes out and saved him last episode, and this episode shows a Latios in trouble the gang go save

anyways, the ending, the Latias & Latios fly away somewhere and Ash & the game talk about it, "I wonder where they're going", "somewhere safe", then we get a scene of the Latis flying away to their home in Pokemon Movie 5 (Heroes), with the girl that Latias likes to transform into, Bianca, is waiting there

soooo this Latias was the Latias that kissed Ash in the movie, wish Ash recognized her earlier! always happy to get movie connections, which the show has definitely given up for forever by now lol

annnd held off on posting til I watched the final ep as well - I'M DONE! Jan 13th to May 8th to watch Ash's entire journeyyy. actually I may be able to finish what's available of Horizons too brb

but finale episode itself eh it's fine, doesn't really feel like a big fanfare. Team Rocket snags Pikachu, Ash doesn't have anyone else with him, Pidgeot returns to save the day which oh hey buddy nice. Gary asks Ash what he needs to do to become a Pokemon Master now that he's become Champion and Ash wonders the same thing. Episode ends with Ash's mom going to wake him up and he's already left for an unknown new journey.

furious that Serena only had ONE episode in Journeys (they showered her one other time cheering for Ash's championship match with no lines). just that one episode I mentioned earlier where they don't even meet up until the very end as Ash goes. BULLSHIT. Every other partner across Ash's journey has had an episode with him but Serena's the one they skimp out on? booooooo. When I saw that episode I thought okay there's many more to come surely they'll bring Serena back for more but NOPE and I hate it

okay one last xiv stream for a while for manny to sleep to but that should be it til the end of the month!

XI free returners campaign starts on the 10th and I'm definitely gonna wanna return that for the first time since before I went on hiatus (same with TotK I gotta come back to oop). After that it'll soon be Anime North time, maybe fit in one stream between then for something else.................... glaring back at TotK rn

overall I prefer Ash vs Cynthia, but the final attack is definitely epic af - preceded by Pikachu getting knocked down, having like a dream of all the Pokemon Ash caught over the journey cheering him on (grouped by series they were caught in), and then up comes the final face-off Ash's Pikachu vs Leon's Charizard with the original Pokmon Theme playing to build-up

fight yeah eh, Cynthia brought more strategy that kept me engaged with. kinda um "odd" that Ash's final champ battle bends the rules - the announcer is saying okay trainers have a choice of 1 Mega, Z-Move, or Dynamax to use and Leon's just like laaaame let's have it all!

which like yeah cool to do one of each of the final battle.... but Leon is only capable of Dynamaxing. Go in thinking hey maybe he can use multiple Dynmaxes... and he does, technically. Two. Eternatus comes and lets everyone Dynamax a 2nd time...... so uh so does Ash, a second time. It just feels like Ash's big win is with a handicap - Gigantamax Gengar, Mega Lucario, 10 Million Volt Thunderbolt, and Gigantamax Pikachu vs Gigantamax Charizard & Gigantamax Cinderace

ftr Ash's other pokemon were Dracovish, Dragonite, & Sirfetch'd, all Pokemon he caught this series only. Leon: Cinderace, Inteleon, Mr. Rhyme, Dragapult, Rillaboom, Charizard

honestly could not give a rat's ass about Dracovish

also also - the battle started Pikachu vs Cinderace, with Leon using a Ground attack then mentioning Cinderace's ability Libero turning its typing into Ground with that attack. Ash switches out, so does Leon, so you kinda right away figure it's gonna come down to Pikachu vs Cinderace in the end with that in effect.

It kinda does, Ash's Pikachu is last standing against Charizard & Cinderace. Cinderace comes out and... doesn't do it again. y'know that dangerous anti-Pikachu technique that forced him to switch out at the start. it really feels like Leon handed this match to Ash

... so far I just have shiny odds at the original 1/4096 but uh that is probably insane for something like this. I could add a shiny charm item somewhere, definitely would have to think about where (gambling prize?). Could make a Shiny Sandwich channel points redeem. Outbreaks / Encounter chains would be way more work than I'm interested in. Masuda Method for sure but honestly just any trade not specifically foreign trades

but still I feel like I should definitely bump the base rate up. for the record so far there's been 555 Pokemon spawned out of all on-stream gameplay or personal bug testing gameplay

he opens his door to Lillie & Gladion, not recognizing either of them as his children, nor Lusamine coming in behind them. He's confused the kids call him dad and Lusamine calls him by his name (that he recognizes).

he invites them in, they say they're looking for their father, he goes huh that's neat I have a daughter named Lillie myself! he brings them to her bedroom and there is another Lillie playing the piano - but the rest of the family can see this is a Nihilego, as Lusamine quickly revolts having previously been abducted by one.

Tho oof it feels anticlimactic to see Iris here after Ash already beat her before he was even in the Top 100. I really can't believe they dumped on her like that and now they're like oh but she made it see she's real strong! when we've never really gotten to see that (her previous big win was against Dawn, which actually made her insecure because she didn't win from her own strengths but because her Dragonite went berserk and wouldn't listen)

honestly, I haven't been able to exactly understand the claim myself yet either which of course adds to how suspect it is

I've been trying to watch the same episode of Pokemon like 10 times. had a few rewinds before bed, now a few in the morning and I think I just gotta give up I don't care about anything that happened here

but uh these contests don't run like Contests anymore? they're.... just performances, like Showcases were. huh??? we're even in Lilycove this ep so yeah there's no reason it wouldn't be the old Contest format from Hoenn, which Sinnoh didn't even change much of anyways

boooooo tho she didn't realllly get to see Ash. the whole ep was her encouraging Chloe to try a Contest after getting scouted. Ash is stalled by Wallace who wants a battle, and he keeps distracting Ash and he doesn't meet back up with Chloe / Serena until their boat is about to take off and Ash just rushes to catch it when Serena goes omg ash! and they catch-up while the boat is literally driving the gang away from Serena who stays behind

I guess if there was traversal space between Ash & Serena he'd be in risk of the Smooch Zone

but like last week he got his ankle monitor off. still under curfew, must be here 11pm each day but he doesn't care, the very day he immediately stayed out all night in toronto, saying he called the people in charge and they said they wouldn't check or whatever (he wouldn't be able to get it actually taken off until the next day)

but whatever that came and went, and he's since just been casually breaking that bail condition on the regular (he has another one not to be in communication with a friend he has never stopped communicating with)

today is the 5th day in a row he's been in toronto without coming back. 11pm he finally calls gdad asking to be picked up, saying he has a broken arm or something

Pokemon Evolultions beated wow that was awesome

Alola Episode holy shit they really went dark with Lusamine. Hoenn honestly I entirely forgot ORAS added Zinnia but she got an unforgettably cool showing here (although I mean I always really liked her design). Johto was a gorgeous play from the Kimono Sisters about Ho-oh & Lugia that really wowed on the visuals and using Pokemon for special effects. Then Kanto was the perfect closer with just a really fun cast of characters after Mewtwo. I desperately wish I could get an anime out of Green & Elaine

successfully replaced my Gold cartridge's battery and got saves working again <3

Master Journeys beated, one more season of Pokemon w/Ash to go!

Masters Journeys finale was fun - lil bit of a lul just preceding it, but coming off a climactic battle against Bea which was pretty rad for doing Gigantamax Machamp vs Mega Lucario

but yeah finale was a two-parter with Dawn & space-time disruptions form Dialga vs Palkia going on that's de-aging Pokemon and opening rifts with a parallel world where Dawn got 2nd in the Sinnoh League and Ash is kinda of a a wuss. Also woah Chloe's a super hacker and Team Rocket are actually pulling off a huge global domination scheme

One season left to start seeing other old favs! I think Journeys has only seen Dawn, Iris, and Korrina's had a few returing moments (and some Cynthia)

I know Brock & Misty get brought back kinda significantly? And Serena will at least appear, I dunno how strongly. 42 episodes to go!

... and then like 12 episodes of Horizons, although that may bump up another 12 before I finish

Also trying to get down to around 160-170 so it's nice to know it's achievable without changing anything but diet. My diet is pretty similar to yours too, lots of chicken.

I started pulling back my calories this year to get myself down from 182, and now today I'm at 149 (cosplay goals for convention this year!). So like down 33 in 4 months even from a lower start. According to my tracker 180-160 was the first 2 months, then 160-150 has been the last two.

Entirely just from diet, I've maybe thrown a few random days of an exercise bike but reallllly not a regular occurrence. Probably the biggest thing his how much I've cut back on pop and just drinking a lot of water these days. Not that a casual can is off limits or anything but just being more conscious of the fact oh I really can't just guzzle these down like nothing.

Iris with the biggest glow-up in her Journeys episode, BW2 design is incredibly and holy crap she's Unova Champ? hell yeah Alder was the worst champion

sad she has to lose tho booooo it would've really done well to cement her progress since their journey together where she never was really allowed to shine - and now holy crap she's the strongest in Unova... and still can't shine
