Just a hour ago, Superman watched Lex pop an innocent man in the skull point-blank, treating it like a game. And now Supermans like Oh, you! Ohhh that dog o mine!

I feel like he made his point with that super-speed shove that made him crash into the wall. Anything further would descend into cruelty.

I do appreciate the movie's willingness to "go there" with the idea that, as the government man General Mori says at the end, "metahumans are making the rules now". Because yes, Lex's bitch-baby plot to blow up the Earth because he hates Superman was foiled, and he and the Boravian president were outed as being in cahoots to turn over half the invaded Jarhanpur to Lex.

And yet.

Metahumans still interfered in international politics without authorization and Hawkgirl assassinated the president of Boravia without trial.

"A pass" will be given because of the situation at the time but this does set up considerable conflict for the future.

Anyone who seriously hates this trope needs to seriously discuss their issues with someone.

I think it's pretty simple honestly.

All these remakes and updates and adaptations of long-past stuff are cash grabs. Exec spends 80% of the budget securing the license, leaving little for the actual production.

Meanwhile the people who *could* do such things justice don't want to, because they're out here putting risks on new stuff that might not make it because they're in it for the love of the game.

I knew that in that secret area you can see the Max head outline. I didn't know that if you turn on the Supermap cheat that the details get filled in. :)

Yep, that's how I took it. Understanding that the whole point of the show is looking at real human beings as if they were just statistics, write-offs, or "horses" as the show is more upfront about. This is just taking that to the logical extreme.

The ending was about what I expected. I figured the detective might have got some proof and killed by others higher up that were taking some bribes. But he really went nowhere.

I mean because of him the entire Korean facility had to be scrapped, so that's SOMETHING.

More of a piledriver than a suplex really.

The level design is an fascinating touchstone in gaming history. They just started figuring the concept of multiple 3d levels on top of each other but they couldn't *show* multiple levels at once so they used tricks with walls to obscure the areas.

If they didn't use the tricks you'd be getting that "hall of mirrors" effect.

Finished Mission 7 just now in the guide. The spaceport. One of the secrets requires you to propel yourself up on explosives.

They've only dubbed 9 episodes so far, and they're a selection of episodes focused around the Black Organization. I gave it about five minutes and I'm not especially thrilled with the dub itself.

Also they're just using Japanese names. No more "Jimmy Kudo" or "Rachel Moore".

A bleak ending is fine but they could have at least flushed out any of the characters they built up

I feel like they've been doing this the entire series. Any interesting or cool characters get unceremoniously killed without more fleshing out because that's how the Games go.

Well that's what we got in S1. Two people facing off who still are trying to cling to their humanity, with a personal relationship between the characters on top of that. I don't think we needed that again. This time it's a horrible battle of survival against overwhelming odds in "piece of shit" territory when you're trying to protect a baby. Also I was interested to see if Myung-gi (333) would have a turnaround or not, because he was teetering and tottering the whole way through. There was a payoff in some sense to have him finally plunk down squarely in one corner.

I had a print copy of the Dark Forces guide and I'm almost certain I used it.

And now I'm writing my own. o_o

Also I'm pretty sure the author was able to write the guide with the help of the game's devs and playtesters, if he wasn't a tester himself. Literally the only info I can find on the guy is that he did a few guides for early Lucasarts games.

I saw a post on social media earlier this week suggesting that, seeing Netflix capitalizing on Squid Game's success, the creator chose this bleak ending as a "fuck you".

Which is to say that the point is that one man can't defeat the system, no matter his ideals. To defeat the Games is to defeat the system that led to the creation of the Games. As long as unfettered capitalism exists, the Games will exist. The best one can hope for is small victories, like the saving of Jun-hee's baby, Gyeong-seok's escape, and the Korean facility being destroyed.

Furthermore, In-ho was "infected" by Gi-hun's humanity, as he showed by following up on Hwang and Gi-hun's daughter.

Small victories, which is all individuals can hope for attacking such a system. That's what I believe was being said.

Twist: the expected thing happened.

Anyway, there's going to have to be a serious social dynamic switch if the series moves to the US. A lot of what built the series is the specific social dynamic of collective gain in a lot of individual situations.

i still dont know how to feel about the whole idea behind including the baby as a participant in the games by taking the place of her deceased mother. like i know these VIPs revel in watching these participants fight and kill each other over money but i felt like this was way too fucked up, i dunno... lol
