There are next to no real challenges, platforming or otherwise, outside of some optional content at the end. The main advancement collectibles, moons, feel super devalued compared to the stars from previous 3D Mario games because they went way overboard with 999 of them. So many are braindead easy, like ground pounding a glowing spot on the ground or even just sitting out in the open. Thanks to the oversaturation there were bound to be a fuckton of unsatisfying ones. That said, Id still recommend Odyssey to any Mario fan, especially of the 3D sandbox type ones like 64 or Sunshine. The Cappy bits are largely fun despite being underutilized. The different Kingdoms arent all great, but there are a few excellent ones like New Donk City, and the usual Mario charm is still there. Its just not as fully realized or polished as a masterpiece like Galaxy. --- Absolute Zero |
