Even if they look the same, the meanings are not the same. #BlackExcellence is simply a hashtag for empowerment to show other black youth what they are capable of. As a historically disadvantaged group, this makes sense. What sense would #WhiteExcellence make? In what context would such a phrase be used in? Most people would interpret it as a hashtag promoting superiority as that what "white excellence" generally meant in the past. Do not be mad at black people for this. Be mad at your white brethren for twisting what could have also been an empowerment phrase into something ugly. --- |
