For the life of me, I'll never understand why it's okay to shame a dude for being under 6' (something he has no control over) but it's not okay to comment on a woman's weight (something she has full control over). It's because lots of male bodyshaming comes from other men. You can see that in this topic. Women have more unity in that most of them want bodyshaming over their weight to end. But men, half want shaming over height and penis size to end, the other half are happy to engage in it and put other men down. This is likely because men are naturally competitive and if one man sees an insecurity/imperfection in another man, he will use that to build himself up. Sure, you can call out female hypocrisy, but it's mostly men holding men back. --- |

The communism answer seems like an oversimplification; it doesn't explain why Russia, Poland, Ukraine, etc. were late to industrialize and didn't form colonial powers prior to the Soviet Union. Eastern Europe was less wealthy than Western Europe long before 1917. Distance from the Atlantic made them miss out on the Age of Exploration. Poland, Ukraine, etc also spent most of the 17th-19th century dominated by the German, Austro-Hungarian, Ottoman, and Russian Empires. --- |
