You should definitely get Rhythm Heaven Fever.

Is it like Guitar Hero, Rock Band? or it something unique like Gitaroo Man. I'm assuming this is a musical rhythm game.

Are you saying you own 70 wii games (most of which you don't like) and that is miniscule compared to the amount of games you have for the PS360?

Yep. I used to own only about 30-40 titles but then I got around 30 new wii games on my last birthday (from my uncle). I do appreciate my uncle going to the trouble of buying me those games but sadly most of them are fodder titles.

I own a LOT of PS3 and 360 titles, Wii barely feels like a console to me.

Cheers man. That's gonna help out a lot

Oh and I already have Xenoblade (forgot to mention) but I didn't start playing it yet.

As for the Metroid Prime trilogy, should I still get it if I own Metroid Prime 1 and 2 on the GC? I think I used to own Metroid Prime 3 as well. I'll check.

Thanks. I think I'll be able to get into Trauma Team.

As for Tat vs Capcom, I'm not huge on fighting games but I'll get it if I see it in a store. Harvest Moon, I've stopped playing since Back to Nature on the PS1.
I won't go out of my way to find those two games but I'll definitely pick it up if I see it lying around.

My PS3 and Xbox 360 library is pretty huge and I own pretty much every highly acclaimed game. The same can't be said for my Wii library. It is miniscule in number compared to the titles I own in PS3 and Xbox 360.

I have about 70-80 titles but honestly 30-40 are garbage titles which I probably would never play.

The high acclaimed games I own are.
- TLoZ: Skyward Sword (beaten)
- TLoZ: Twilight Princess (beaten)
- Resident Evil 4 (beaten on GC and PS2, didn't bother with this version)
- Okami (beaten on PS2, didn't bother with this version)
- Super Mario Galaxy (finally started a play through)
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (beaten-recently)
- Super Smash Bros Brawl (beaten)
- New Super Mario Bros Wii (beaten)
- Donkey Kong Country Returns (beaten)
- Mario Kart Wii (beaten)
- Wii Sports

These are the high acclaimed titles which I own. I might have forgotten a few

Nintendo gamers, recommend me some good Wii titles

Pitfall - 6.5
For the longest time I thought the game was basically collecting as many treasures as you can before the time runs out. I didn't realize you could actually beat it (doesn't mean you will beat it since its actually quite challenging to collect all the treasures within the time limit). Pitfall was one of the first games I've ever played. While it was fun back then, it is barely comparable to even the NES-era platformers.

I punched Psycho mantis to death with a slot 1 controller once.

I thought that was the only way to beat him back then. He still isn't really hard, just freaking time consuming to beat that way.

And this may sound stupid but I switched off my console when the blank screen with Hideo appeared. *Sigh. I was young ^_^

MGS2 Vamp was the hardest boss in the series

Not if you use Stinger whenever he pops out of the water. When he gets faster during the end stages (and he'll only have little health by then) simply gun him down with an Ak or whats-that-MGS2-machinegun name.

Outstanding Action-RPG. Definitely one of the best of its time. Seiken Densetsu 3 is just as good but I'd still give SoM the edge. The best of the Mana series, too bad the series is fiddling with mediocrity as of late. Dawn of Mana especially was one of the most horrible experiences ever.

These two may be hard, but unless you're ranking by the hardest boss in the game and not average boss difficulty, MG2 is still not that much harder than all the rest.

It is infact much harder than the rest because even the most average gaming kid can beat any of bosses in the MGS games w/o much trouble (On a normal playthrough). I don't think the same can be said for MG1 and especially MG2.

And speaking of average difficulty of bosses, I can honestly say that even the easiest boss in MG2 is tougher than the toughest boss in the MGS series. Why? Because in the MGS series, once you figure out the pattern to beat a boss, it is next to impossible to lose to them if you're playing seriously (On a normal playthrough) whereas in MG2 (And even some MG1 bosses), even if you know their pattern, you have a much higher chance to screw up because of the dated controls and mechanics. Not to mention, Black Color and Night Sight requires a fair amount of luck to beat.
And I think people over here are really undermining the MG1 bosses considering the fact that on a bad day the bad mechanics can screw you up against some of the easiest bosses.

Comparing the difficulty of MGS bosses to the MG bosses is like comparing Final Fantasy bosses to Shin Megami Tensei bosses.

First let me make this clear. I only play the MGS games on Normal and MGS1 is the only one I've beaten on Extreme. My rating is based on the Normal difficulty, not easy not hard not extreme.

Wow, just no. Unless you're counting TTS as MGS1, which way dumbed down almost every boss fight but Psycho Mantis and Liquid (and maybe the Hind-D). But even then, MGS3 is not the harder than MGS2, except maybe The Boss.

MGS1 (Original, I hate TTS btw) - I've played it countless times and even on my worst day, I can beat the game dying once or twice at the most. All of the bosses are really easy to figure out and unless you get really unlucky or careless you just cannot die. But in all fairness, I played MGS1 during the time of its release and countless times after that. I've probably forgotten any problems I might have had with any of the bosses there because I first played it waaaaaay back then.

MGS2 - Metal Gear Rays are Solidius proved troublesome at first but the rest are just child's play.

MGS3 - I don't know if its just me but I don't think I've ever died in an MGS game that much. (Just a handful but significant compared to the others) Volgin and especially The Boss posed trouble for me when I first played the game.

MGS4 - I'll admit I died quite a number of times against Laughing Octopus but once I got past that, I don't think I died once in that game. I don't know if you can even lose the final battle and other than Octopus, MGS4's bosses are a joke. Auto-Aim and strafing makes the game even easier.

Also, you're way overplaying MG2's and MG1's boss difficultly. Especially MG1. Placement for those two is still correct, though.

Are you freaking kidding me? MG2's Black Color and Night Sight are probably two of the cheapest and most frustrating bosses I've ever come across. Not saying MG2 is the hardest game ever but from the series, it most definitely is.

I agree with the fact that other than Metal Gear, none of the bosses in MG1 are really that tough but they can still get you and its easier to make mistakes there. Lets be honest compared to the solid games, MG is still miles ahead in terms of difficulty.

Dr. Pettrovich, too. If you don't have enough ammo the fight is literally unwinnable, unless there's some method to beat him that I don't know about.

Petro's a pain because you need a number of rations to survive that fight. If I remember correctly you can use mines if you run out of rocket ammo. But I think I've had more trouble with Gray Fox than the doctor.

As for the difficulty of bosses in each MG game

MG1
Metal Gear > Arnold Twins > Hind-D > Tank > Coward Duck > Dozer > Fire Trooper > Machine Gun Kid > Shoot Gunner > Big Boss

MG2
Black Color > Night Sight > Metal Gear > Hind-D > Ultra Box > Red Blaster > Running Man > Gray Fox > Dr. Pettrovich > Predator > Big Boss

MGS1
Metal Gear Rex > Gunner > Hind-D > Sniper Wolf 1 > Sniper Wolf 2 > Liquid Snake > Ninja > Revolver Ocelot > Vulcan Raven > Psycho Mantis

MGS2
Metal Gear Rays > Solidus Snake > Vamp > Harrier > Fatman > Olga > Fortune (If you consider it a boss fight)

MGS3
The Boss > Volgin > The End > The Fury > The Pain > The Fear > Ocelot > Shagohod > Volgin w/ Shagohod > The Sorrow (Not really a boss fight)

MGS4
Laughing Octopus > Screaming Mantis > Raging Raven > Metal Gear Ray > Crying Wolf > Liquid Ocelot > Vamp

MG2 >>> MG1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> MGS3 > MGS2 > MGS4 > MGS1 in terms of diffculty

The first two Metal Gear games (especially Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake on the MSX) had some brutal boss fights which is why I don't think they are comparable to the MGS series.

Black Color (The first boss fight in MG2) is IMO the toughest boss from the entire Metal Gear series.

As for the MGS series. None of the bosses are tough on a Normal Playthrough. I dunno if The End is the hardest but he certainly takes the most time to beat. Oh and I had trouble with Laughing Octopus on my first playthrough. But once I figured out how to beat her, she's one of the easiest.

Wow what is with all these rate the game hosts and 1. Coddling games so they get better scores. 2. Not getting how 0-10 rating systems work.

Its not really a big deal. I consider 7 to be an average game because usually any games below the score of a 7 on a gaming website means its a fairly poor game. But average means different things to different people. I take 7 as an average, doesn't mean everyone has to follow suit, they can take 5 or 6 as average, it's just different people with different perspective.

WW despite its flaws has arguably the best final boss battle in the Zelda series.

I'm not sure if I can compare it to the Nintendo platformers because they are basically from different genres. As for the series, I can't choose between WW, SS and OoT. Magnificent final battles, all of them.

As for the games itself (IMO)

SS > MM > OoT > TP > LttP > LA > WW > MC > TLoZ > Zelda II > OoA/S > PH

Adventure (Atari) - 4.3
I haven't played "Adventure in the Atari days and I first heard about the game during the 2004 Best Game Ever contest. I can see how it is revolutionary for its time because it certainly outclasses most games on the Atari system but in all honesty it is barely playable by today's standards. Levels mean next to nothing in Persona games, it's all about your team makeup and persona selection. What you want to do is get something with media and if possible fire resist/red wall.

I beg your pardon but it really does. Unless you're already on a New Game+, the only way you'll be able to fuse higher level Personas is if you're on the same level as the Persona you want to fuse. Not to mention, your attack and defense as well as HP and SP increases allowing you to survive more easily.

On topic. Persona 4 certainly isn't a cakewalk like most RPGs today but from my perspective it was still the easiest SMT game. In SMT games you should always exploit the enemy's weakness, and guard your own. As for cheap deaths, trust me even the most veteran P4 players can run into an ambush by the enemy and get owned w/o having a single turn.

On a side note. The first dungeon isn't really all that hard but the second dungeon certainly is. But after that you should have little trouble advancing the game.

If SP is your issue, you can either pay an insane amount of money to the fox (available soon as a Social Link) or fuse Parvati (or Sarvasvati, Ganga. I forgot) w/ invigorate 2

Yep I do have a ton of trash games, especially from the NES, SNES, Genesis era and quite a number on the PS2 as well. But most of the games on the other consoles are atleast collectors worthy. As for the current gen, most are highly acclaimed games.

If I had to weed out all the trashy games, I'd still say I wouldn't sell around 3,000 of them for any price.

Most of them are PS2 games (Way over a 1000). Second has to be SNES, NES and GBA followed closely by PS1. I also have pretty much every N64 game. From the current gen (PS3, 360, Wii, DS, PSP), I must be having close to a 1000 and yet I've played so few of them.

#001 is Final Fantasy VII. Write-Up is currently on hold because I've suddenly got a ton of work to finish up. I'll get to it soon though.

Are you currently living in a mansion?

Hahaha no. I moved out a year or so ago and live in an apartment. But in all honesty (and at the cost of sounding pompous) I do come from a rich background and I've been collecting games for a very long time. I started playing VGs when I was 2-3 and I'm 24 right now so... yup 20 years. I can't check for spelling errors and grammar mistakes (Need to rush somewhere) so apologies if there's any.

Stay tuned for the conclusion and #1. If you've been reading the write-ups you'll already know what it is.

FF8 is infact the least grind-y FF game. Hell, you can remove Random Encounters by halfway in the 1st disc if you know what you are doing. The abilities you can learn and unlearn from GFs (Summons) and the sheer depth of the gameplay just amazes me.
FF8 also has limit breaks just like FF7 but they are very different with execution. Limit breaks are also the biggest source of damage input in the game so do not underestimated their use. FF8 also has the best mini-game I’ve ever played in a game. It a unique game of cards called Triple Triad and you won’t believe how much impact it has on the game itself.
I don’t know what to say about FF8 anymore because anything I say leads to a wall of text, the game just has that much depth, so I’ll stop right here.
FF8 has a split fan base and I’ve accepted that fact since day one. A game this different is bound to have its fair share of love and hate. I love this game and commend Squaresoft for putting forth such a unique masterpiece. I also believe it is one of the very best of all time.

#002 – Final Fantasy VIII (PS1)
Released on 9/9/99, the 8th installment of the legendary FF series used to be arguably the most controversial game of the series. Like many, I was expecting something similar to FF7 but I was taken by surprise. That surprise was relief rather than disappointment. As much as I loved FF7, I wished the next game was something different. FF7 was different enough from the rest of the series but FF8 is probably the most unique FF game, even to this day.
FF8’s magic captured me the moment I put in the first disc. It simply had the best intro I had ever seen at that time. The dialogue was also a breath of fresh air because not only has the translation improved over FF7 by a landslide, it also had a more mature script. But in all honesty it is not a secret that the story in FF8 is riddled with plot holes and that is probably the game’s biggest flaw. However, if you go beyond the beyond, the game has a fantastic overall plot which also requires you to do a little bit of research within the game itself. In short: Not everything is handed to you on a platter this time.
I must admit the plot has some ridiculous segments; some of them may seem downright nonsensical at first but after doing a little bit of research they all actually make sense. Don’t get me wrong, I love the story in FF8, even with its flaws. The character interaction in FF8 is superb. It is always nice to see *I might have to spoil the game a little here* Zell overreact to everything Seifer says, Laguna getting cramps whenever he approaches Julia, Squall calming down the entire team whenever something goes out of hand, Squall’s thought bubbles. The characters in FF8 have a tendency to really grow on you.
Now the plot of FF8 centers around Squall and how his character steadily develops after meeting Rinoa. It is no secret that romance is the main theme of FF8 and it is done rather well considering a man who’s supposedly let go of his emotions gradually falls in love with his exact polar opposite. Squall’s character is done superbly. Hats off to Squaresoft (And if you disagree with me, I personally don’t care so don’t even try) for that. The fact that the player can read Squall’s thought makes up for some of the most entertaining sequences and at times downright hilarious moments. It’s really funny reading Squall’s thought whenever the characters enter the dream world. Lol. Squall Leonhart is infact one of my favorite Video Game characters alongside Solid Snake and Leon Scott Kennedy.
Overall I thought FF8 did a fantastic job with its plot and characters. Although not nearly among the best in the series, it didn’t fail to entertain me. As for the music and the soundtracks they are simply awesome. It may very well be my favorite in the series.
Now let’s get into FF8’s monster attribute, the gameplay. FF8 introduces the unique, one of a kind system known as ‘Junction’. Now I’m not gonna get into detail here explaining about Junction otherwise its gonna take 2 or 3 more pages of write-ups just for that. My review of the Junction System is this: It deserves a freaking award just for its sheer depth and flexibility.
This system allows the player to play the game however they want. FF8’s difficulty can be ridiculously easy or brutally hard depending on how familiar you are with the system. The system utilizes the stock of magic you’ve drawn which is also a good reason why FF8 doesn’t follow the MP system like every other FF game does. This ticked off many gamers but I see it as a good thing because it is done so for a reason. Drawing magic from enemy is another complaint from many lazy gamers. Trust me when I say this. It really doesn’t take that long if your ‘Magic’ stat is high and besides there is the ‘refine system’ which allows you to extract certain amount of magic from items anyway.

#003 – Metal Gear Solid (PS1)
Tactical Espionage Action is a fitting description for the first MGS game, especially MGS1 I’d say. My first experience with Solid Snake and Metal Gear wasn’t with the first MGS game but with the rather crappy NES version of the first Metal Gear. It was only later that I learned of the original MSX version and realized its superiority to the NES port. I never got really far in my first Metal Gear game so my initial take on the series wasn’t that great. If it weren’t for the splendid demo of MGS1, I would have never have bought the first of the MGS game on its release date.
I’m usually a person who buys without thinking (the moment I see a good score of a game on the internet, I buy it if it’s available) and experiments less demos. But the MGS1 demo came with a gaming magazine I bought and I decided to try it out because I vaguely remembered owning a Metal Gear game on my Nintendo. As soon as I popped in the demo of MGS1, the memories of MG on the NES were but a distant memory. My initial reaction to the game’s awesomeness skyrocketed with each and every minute. You must understand, at that time no game has EVER had the quality of cutscenes the MGS series is famously known for. Voice Acting was on par with the best Hollywood movies and Solid Snake was instantly the coolest VG character. And then there’s the codec conversations which immediately grabbed my interest. Not only was it polished with entertaining-to-listen to script, the VA, humour and presentation was unprecedented. No other game even came close to it. The graphics were also outstanding for its time and for PS1 standards, it still is.
I’ve never fell in love with the demo of a game before. Hell for most demos, I usually play about 5 minutes max before putting off my console, even if it’s a good one. The MGS1 demo made me instantly wanna purchase the game because even the demo leaves you on a cliffhanger.
So after a few weeks, I finally purchased MGS1, a day after its release (shipping and all). I really wanted to know what was going to happen in the game after where the demo left off.
Not only did MGS1 surpass the monster expectations its fantastic demo impacted on me, it immediately became one of my favorite games. Overall, MGS1 is inferior to the rest of the series in the gameplay department because you can’t aim in the game and pull off stunts introduced in the later releases but for me it doesn’t hamper the experience. MGS1’s gameplay is perfect for the structure of MGS1, the Twin Snakes remake on the GC made it pretty evident. Introducing the elements implemented from MGS2 onwards made the game too easy and actually hampered the experience.
But for me, that’s about where MGS1’s inferiority to the rest of the series ends. Even after all these long years none of the games in the rest of the series can quite match the story telling, the quality of the scenes, the characters, the music and the overall feel of the game.
MGS1 has the best boss fights I can remember from not just the MGS series but arguably from all of the games I’ve played. Not only are the boss fights unique, each of them draws you right into it.
I can’t possibly think of another MGS game ever passing MGS1 considering the impact it had on me at the time and still has. Frankly, none of the others came remotely close to it. Call it nostalgia or whatever, MGS1 is still the MGS game I replay the most and still my favorite. MGS1 along with Super Mario World and Resident Evil 4 are easily the games I’ve replayed more than any other games combined. MGS1 changed the face of gaming and is still the pinnacle of cinematic experience.
