I love this game to death. The 80+ hours I put into it was went by in a flash because of how much fun I was having with the game. A return to form for the series after SMTIV and IVA were such disappointing entries. Sadly, the story isn't close to the reason why. It is not bad but doesn't really do anything special to break the SMT mold of Lawful/Neutral/Chaotic. It starts off interesting but quickly becomes just a device to get the game going. I think Nocturne's way of minimalistic story telling is the way to go for the series if they don't wanna put too much resources into the writing of these games.

I literally wrote an essay on why I gave it a 2. If you have it archived, post it up here and then we can argue about the points I made.

Omori fucking blows as a game. The gameplay is just an exercise in tedium and the story which is the only real draw of the game, shoots itself in the foot. Even if you discount the terribly botched ending, 90% of the story which is a terribly paced imitation of Earthbound and Undertale is just not fun as either. And I don't even like Earthbound that much but Omori makes it look like a world beater of a game in quality.

Never ever said every niche game is overrated so stop spinning that narrative (I could argue the point about how a 'niche' game can even be overrated in the first place) but yeah most indie games are. Not all but most of them are.

Indie games receive egregious favoritism and bias from both professional reviewers and their income challenged fanbase because they have to take pity on the game made on a shoestring budget by a studio of two from their mom's basement.

DoC does not exist for me.

This was phrased very badly. I haven't played Trails from Zero yet so I'm most excited for that one. I would have been more excited for TLoU Remake if I haven't already played the original over 5 times on both the PS3 and PS4. Getting it anyways but newer games and games I haven't played are more of a priority since the remake is just a graphical upgrade.

Boletaria's lore was unprecedented when the game came out. Demon's Souls also had the best NPC quests in the series (flawed as the World Tendency mechanic is) until Elden Ring of course.

The way they restructured the gameplay in 2 and 3 just didn't do it for me. It's not like 1 is anything special but at least it was a fun platformer. 2 was a chore to play with its myriad of unfun mini-games and the way the levels were structured. It did get better after the halfway mark though. 3 improved on 2's formula in every way but suffers from a not so great second half. A so so 3D platformer series in my opinion.

I really like the story, lore and characters of Persona 2. Innocent Sin is also easily the better half of the story in my opinion. It's such a shame that everything that happens in the game gets undone by the end because I was getting attached to the cast.

Never heard of the game much less that it was noteworthy enough to even have a sequel. Wouldn't have guessed with infinite amount of tries.

I have never completed LUCT. Played both the PS1 and PSP versions but always fell to the side because other games I wanted to play kept coming up. Gonna remedy that with Reborn.

Even in terms of VNs, the pacing is a bit all over the place despite being shorter than your average VNs. Like what the fuck is even the point of Door 4? Even Doors 1, 2 and 3 had no business being that long. The real story only really begins with the 5th door.

Great story. A tale unlike any you would have heard before but my god is it overrated to the skies by its fanbase.

Among Us guy likely gets put up against Link by SBAllen to snuff out any rally potential. I can see it putting up Tanner-like numbers against Link.

Edit: That is if people even care to waste a nomination spot for it. My bet is it doesn't even get in the bracket.
