Ok. Not quite as ridiculous as my Skyrim file but I think this will have to be on the back burner for a while. RDR2 and Smash is gonna take up most of my time for the remainder of the year and KHIII and RE2 is coming out early next year.

Yeah I think I'll pass. I will just raise my rank till I can face the postgame monsters and then whatever DLC monsters there are.

42 hours. B****slapped Xeno and the other 3 Elder Dragons all over with my Rarity 7 Dual Blades.

Nergigante was by far the hardest monster in the game for me because of his dive bomb with the insanely wide hit box.

Bazelgeuse would probably rank second because of his annoying bombs.

Suffice to say, this game is far far less tedious than MH4U which was the only other Monster Hunter game I have beaten.

Will come back to the post game monsters and DLC after I beat Red Dead Redemption 2.

Anyway this is my overall ranking for the games I've beaten this year.

Playing SoulCalibur VI and loving that game as well.

1-2 are GOAT material (Top 30). 3 is amazing (pun intended) and my 2nd favorite superhero game of all time. 4-5 are great games. 6-8 are very good and even no.9 is a pretty good game.

A solid year of gaming with still more to come (RDR2 and Smash) after the best year in gaming ever. Truly privileged to be a gamer in this day and age.

RE2 wouldn't make much sense with the remake coming so soon.

It actually makes all the sense in the world. I myself am planning to play all 4 scenarios in January in anticipation for the RE(make)2.

To be clear about where exactly I am in the game. I've just entered High Rank and beat the HR Pukei Pukei. Been maining Bone Tree Dual Blades. Defense rating is 128.

Would appreciate overall defense recommendations and which armor sets to farm for upcoming monsters because I'd like to get through the main game with as little grinding as possible.

And the boss monsters are almost one shotting me. I got through the game so far with minimal grinding (I've logged 20 hours and my friend says he logged nearly 50 by the time he was facing Diablos).

Basically I upgraded my weapon whenever possible but my armor level is what I presume to be very low. Two hits from Diablos was basically carting me to give you an idea.

Anyway I wanna ask the MHW vets here. Where do I begin in High Rank. What armor set do you guys recommend that will last till the final boss. And also another important question. Do I stick with Bone tree Dual Blades or is Ore tree better? I can see Ore has better sharpness.

One of the main problems I have with Monster Hunter games is that you can't see the monster's health and the boss monsters are usually very long fights. After 10mins or so of wailing on a monster I start to get impatient and then start making careless mistakes. And some monsters regenerate their health which makes battles even more tedious.

Dual Blades just like I did in MH4U. I remember hitting a wall in Gore Magala in that game with Sword and Shield. Switched to Duals and it got me through the main story.

Didn't like MH4U because of how grindy it got during HR. I expected World to be streamlined for Casuals but so far the premise seems the same.

Well the answers are very encouraging. I guess I'll keep playing and hopefully the game will start clicking with me eventually.

MW3 has an 88 metascore and it seems this game has 87 so far. So no? And doesn't Black Ops 1 have like 89 or something as well?

FPSes always review well with critics.

Started the game two days ago and currently logged about 8 hours. About to go face the Anjanath and I have several questions.

- At what point in the main quest do I need to start grinding for optimum gear so that the monsters don't kill me in 2-3 hits or takes almost the entire time limit (50 mins) to kill?

- I absolutely hated Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate because it started becoming too grindy and it simply became a game of killing previous monsters for materials until you get the best gear to the face the next Big Monster, rinse and repeat. Is this game more or less the same?

- Currently my aim is just to finish the main quest i.e finish the story. Is it a huge time investment to do just that? I know MH games have massive content. I just wanna know how long it takes to beat just the story portion and how much of it requires grinding?

The credits put it over the top

The credits made me shed a tear even though I actually liked only half the games shown on it.

And now I have a strong urge to replay the NES Dragon Quest games even though I absolutely hated Dragon Quest II.

Doragon Quesudo Juuichi beated 100%! At 109 hours.

Calasmos was either too easy or I was too overprepared. The last thing I expected him to be was an alien crab monster though. Talk about this game breaking all of its usual DQ tropes all the way to the end. Lol

This is seriously a strong contender for my GotY with God of War being its other competition. Spider-Man and Octopath Traveler a distant 3rd and 4th.

I have to let things sink in a little before I decide which one is better. Currently leaning towards DQXI.

I have literally never not held the dash button in the Horse races and I found Gold Cup Hard mode to be harder than Platinum and Black Hard mode.

Holy **** first ever game over in the entire game courtesy of Overwheening Pride in the final Drustan Trial. Kinda impressive seeing as my party is level 99 and I had near optimal equipment. Beat him the next try in 30 turns which I believe is not very impressive. Was better prepared but some of the status ailments he inflicts really ****ed up my healers.

I expect Calasmos is harder?

Anyway now I only have a bunch of fun size forging and apparently some crossbow targets left before I tackle the the true final boss and complete the game 100%.

Kinda sad that the end is drawing near for arguably my Game of the Year (God of War being the other competition).
