| BlueCrystalTear 05/26/17 8:53:59 PM #6 | Sinnoh is indeed the best, though I say that not having watched much of Kalos. A lot of recurring characters that make for an ongoing story that's quite deep and well-developed. I don't regret my binge-watch of Sinnoh at all, and would do it again if I had the time. I didn't do the same with Hoenn since I stopped watching the anime regularly after the idiocy that was the 7th gym badge. I did not see Battle Frontier for that reason but heard good things about it, though keep in mind that partway through the US version switched to a fandub. That is very, very tough to get used to. The biggest issue I have with the fandub is that it doesn't try at all to be funny, which at times makes it less enjoyable to watch. It was never supposed to be a serious show, even in Japan. Johto is very hit-or-miss for me due to its abundant filler. Some of these episodes are a lot of fun while others are utter crap. Hoenn is the same thing, though the good filler episodes are few and far between. Max is easily the worst party member in the series. At least some of the gym battles and Kanto has a high degree of nostalgia and is campy fun at times but half the time it seems like the writers had no idea what they were doing. | BlueCrystalTear 05/19/17 12:37:07 AM #11 | I like both for different reasons. Trek is more introspective and that ultimately makes it more relatable. Its characters are typically superior and its plots are far less predictable. It has more history to its lore and culture, but like Kokoro stated above, it's often something where you only watch an entry once. Star Wars has a better designed universe and more engaging battles. Its highs blow you away, but the prequel trilogy exists to be dumb at the same time. It's generally more fun to watch but that's at expense of lore - all the movies take place over such a short window and don't really give any plot outside it, so it's shallow. Wars also has Yoda. To conclude, Star Wars is more fun to watch, but Star Trek is the more complex universe with superior storytelling. I should have used myself as an indicator and I am neither of those, so yes, I messed up. Recency bias is not a major thing here.
